EQS [Official] Mercedes-Benz EQS

The Mercedes-Benz EQS (V297) is a battery electric full-size luxury liftback car produced by Mercedes-Benz Group and part of the Mercedes-Benz EQ family. It was released in September 2021 in Germany and the fourth quarter of 2021 in the United States.
Chinese factory workers aren't paid a hell of a lot less than factory workers in Eastern Europe

Poland is still quite a way behind Germany or the UK in that respect.

It's also not just what's getting paid to the workers, there's a knock on cost of, for example, holiday pay, sick pay, maternity/paternity, pension contributions etc. which will vary quite a bit, and I don't know, but I suspect the further east you go, the less other benefits the workers get.

Yes. There's also greater work pressure, less overall freedom.

Does that matter to the end user? Probably not. In the most cynical corporate capitalist sense only the end product should matter. But the world is more complicated than that.

In any case Western economies won't be able to compete with manufacturing that is heavily subsidised by the Chinese government (with the possible usage of indentured labour), so there will be tariffs to protect their own business interests.

Finally, there's more to cars than just how pretty the interior looks. It needs to be able to last, and then there are the electromechanical and safety systems. We'll see what the future holds.

Chinese workers have it at least as good if not better than the US. Retirement age is 55 for women, 60 for men. holiday pay is 10-15 days per year, or more depending on employer, pensions are paid by the state, plus employers have to pay an additional 8% to the employees defined contribution pension plan, sick leave is anywhere from 3 to 24 months, healthcare is provided by the state. Maternity leave is 158 days plus 15 days for each child of a multiple birth pregnancy at full pay. 90% of Chinese own there own home, compared to 65% of Americans and 47% of Germans. China also has a high savings rate, better than all bar 3 European countries, Ireland, Luxemborg and San Marino.

A lot of the components in vehicles today come from China, I learned this a couple of months ago, most car glass for manufacturers throughout the entire world is made in China. The back window of my mini was smashed, it went to BMW to be repaired, I was chatting to the guy whilst he did the job, the new window came out of a box with made in China stamped on it.

But don’t suddenly do a conveniant switch from Europe to US. US has very few vacation days compared to European countries, and almost a lack of a public social security system.

Your stupidity is mind blowing! US workers have the right to free speech, right to vote. When a Chinese worker have the right to say f#ck Xi in his ass, as a US worker has to say f#ck Biden in his, come back.

Got it wrong again Sunny. We're only discussing working conditions nothing else. Working conditions for most US workers are hardly world class.

If you want to take about free speech, lets give it a go, you can say what you like, but if the person you're talking about doesn't like it you are not free from the consequences of that free speech. Everyone can vote hooray, but due to the undemocratic nature of the EC most peoples votes don't count, only the voters in a handful of swing states decide who wins POTUS.

HI, I've just bought an EQS 350. Should be arriving soon.

Is the 350 ok for a car this big? I wanted to keep my insurance down. The 450 costs £11-15k more, and will mean £1k more on insurance.

It's my first mercedes/electric/car. Thanks for any advice.

Range is likely not an issue. Have a charger at home. Longest journey will be 50km . My girlfriend has a charger at hers.

Mercedes EQS Facelift 2025

Hmm.. is it going to be that different to the current one they're selling with badge?

I'm about to to seal deal on EQS 350, £950 a month with 1k deposit for 4 years. Seems like an ok deal with option to trade in at year 3 or 4.

I'd like to hold off for face lift but seems a bit risky that I won't get 0% APR 0% interest. without that deal - I don't think I can afford the car.

hi I bought EQS. amazing car.

I have to be that annoying person and say EQS cars do have a TINY amount of coil whine from the front driver portion if you are in TOTAL silence in the car. any music talking or driving noise u can't hear it but in total silence there is a subtle coil whine coming from front screen. someone else's posted about it on MB world.

not huge deal but with mentioning for other EQS owners and prospective owners.

How is your general experience driving the EQS the quality and impressions co pared maybe to past cars owned or driven

I'm glad you're enjoying your car.

Huh? Have you visited a US factory? I've worked for Benz for 26+ years. I've toured multiple factories in the US. The most hilarious thing is you believe statistics that are provided by a the Chinese controlled propaganda machine. I have family that actually lived in China. A factory worker is far from better off. Geez.

In the sum of the ADAC statistics posted, the Porsche Taycan with the Performance + battery looks compelling. What is strange is the rather poor data for the Audi S eTron GT.

And i expect a lot more from Lucid also - this car is hyped in the us but here in Europe it just doesn't perform. Media bias? Similar to Cadillac and Lexus winning test in the USA?

I am not really a big fan of the EQS as it does look so odd and different to every other Mercedes saloon but thought I would spec it up in the Manufaktur specs and it does look a whole lot better in this colour spec Rubellirot with a brown interior.

That colour is stunning. On a better looking car it would be amazing.
A C217 S coupe, would look delicious.
