HI, I've just bought an EQS 350. Should be arriving soon.

Is the 350 ok for a car this big? I wanted to keep my insurance down. The 450 costs £11-15k more, and will mean £1k more on insurance.

It's my first mercedes/electric/car. Thanks for any advice.

Range is likely not an issue. Have a charger at home. Longest journey will be 50km . My girlfriend has a charger at hers.

Mercedes EQS Facelift 2025

Hmm.. is it going to be that different to the current one they're selling with badge?

I'm about to to seal deal on EQS 350, £950 a month with 1k deposit for 4 years. Seems like an ok deal with option to trade in at year 3 or 4.

I'd like to hold off for face lift but seems a bit risky that I won't get 0% APR 0% interest. without that deal - I don't think I can afford the car.

I have to be that annoying person and say EQS cars do have a TINY amount of coil whine from the front driver portion if you are in TOTAL silence in the car. any music talking or driving noise u can't hear it but in total silence there is a subtle coil whine coming from front screen. someone else's posted about it on MB world.

not huge deal but with mentioning for other EQS owners and prospective owners.

Chinese workers have it at least as good if not better than the US. Retirement age is 55 for women, 60 for men. holiday pay is 10-15 days per year, or more depending on employer, pensions are paid by the state, plus employers have to pay an additional 8% to the employees defined contribution pension plan, sick leave is anywhere from 3 to 24 months, healthcare is provided by the state. Maternity leave is 158 days plus 15 days for each child of a multiple birth pregnancy at full pay. 90% of Chinese own there own home, compared to 65% of Americans and 47% of Germans. China also has a high savings rate, better than all bar 3 European countries, Ireland, Luxemborg and San Marino.

A lot of the components in vehicles today come from China, I learned this a couple of months ago, most car glass for manufacturers throughout the entire world is made in China. The back window of my mini was smashed, it went to BMW to be repaired, I was chatting to the guy whilst he did the job, the new window came out of a box with made in China stamped on it.

Got it wrong again Sunny. We're only discussing working conditions nothing else. Working conditions for most US workers are hardly world class.

And i expect a lot more from Lucid also - this car is hyped in the us but here in Europe it just doesn't perform. Media bias? Similar to Cadillac and Lexus winning test in the USA?

The Lucid has great driving dynamics apparently. But that doesn't really mean anything in range tests.

I am not really a big fan of the EQS as it does look so odd and different to every other Mercedes saloon but thought I would spec it up in the Manufaktur specs and it does look a whole lot better in this colour spec Rubellirot with a brown interior.

That colour is stunning. On a better looking car it would be amazing.
A C217 S coupe, would look delicious.

They're actually pretty good EVs and get good range, but that price and look make it an impossible sell. I wonder if they real changes next year will move the sales needle any? The dealer here had so many of them sitting around it wasn't even funny.

The EQS always gives me a bit of an "NSU Ro80 Flashback".

Design wise too far ahead of its time, hence alienating many customers. Wankel rotary engine powertrain lacking wider target market acceptance and often deemed "weird". Too expensive. And even way back then, what we today refer to as "range issues" due to high fuel and oil consumption. Not to mention very common engine seal issues leading to engine seizure.

Main issue I have with the EQS is it’s price. The design has grown on me and the front looks really good, without the central star. It’s range makes it a sensible daily compagnion for my driving profile. If I buy an ICE S class, I get a 10% discount, but only 3% on a EQS. That means I’d have to pay over € 10.000 more to drive a comparable EQS over a S class.

If it where the other way around, I might consider changing from my beloved ICE to a EQS. Under current conditions, no way.

I think once they unify the design language of the S and S-EQ, many of the problems people have with it will go away.
That and bringing back physical controls. I think there has been a general inflection point with screens now, and hopefully for the next cycle Mercedes have learned to tune it down a couple of notches.
