In direct comparison the iX is almost a bargain. The EQS is even more expensive than the GLS. In my book the GLS and EQS are not even in the same segment.

So I totally agree, the EQS is absurdly overpriced.

I agree, GLS is at least one class above the EQS SUV. Just like the W223 S class is one or two classes bove the EQS sedan.
The facelifted GLS 580 4matic is just as expensive as the EQS 580 4Matic SUV, but is better equiped with extras. I'm not into SUV, but I'd take that well equiped V8 GLS anytime above a plastic bomber with a battery.

I haven’t sat in either. Is there a noticeable difference in build quality, ride quality and sound insulation between?

Yes.. the only plus for the EQS is the interior space since it has a bigger cabin than the comparable gas powered GLS (at least it’s my understanding).. especially if the owner is being chauffeured around a city from meeting to meeting.. makes for a great use case.
