Agreed, but it shows they could make a very attractive version of it from the Factory lol.

Has mercedes ever offered the S-class as a wagon historically? Not that I think they should. The effort is better spent on a 2 door or 4 door coupe.

I saw this generation lineup picture on FB - usually a rare site to see generations together in the same spec and in good condition. Having owned all 3 generations for years at a time, I feel each generation has its strengths and weaknesses. One would think newer is better, but as we well know, it’s not so clear cut due to company directions. One of these days I’ll come around to do a write up.

I haven't driven W223, but I drove S560 Designo '19.

It was sublime, I can't believe how much difference is between the E class same year. So luxury, so smooth. Perfect.

I am big Fan of the S-Class, I was even in the market for one.

I didn’t order one , because there are no possibilities to get rid of the black plastic in the interior.

Compared to the 222, the 223 feels to cheap.

Not really the same spec.

The W221 in the picture is the facelift. And it's better looking than the predecesor.

Out of the 3 I think the W222 looks the best overall, but the W221 I think has the best interior in looks and quality. The W223 has the worst interior, but I do like the styling but I wouldn't take it over the W222.

Solely focusing on exterior design, the W/V223 is my personal favorite. Nearly 5 years old yet still appears fresh IMHO. Interior wise, I'd like to see an updated version of that of the W/V221, which in it's day was absolutely stellar.. The W/V222 interior always appeared a tad "boudoir" to my eyes, the W/V223 an exercise in cutting corners.

While there is evidence of cost cutting in the W223, the W222 was not perfect either with the W221 being the best built and finished.

Aesthetically, putting aside the black gloss trim, I would rate the W223 first and the W221 last. The W221 interior lacks elegance and is quite imposing. The design aesthetic of both the W222 and W223 are superior IMO.

Can't get over that sport grille on the S63. Such a shame. So rice and ugly.

Car's near flawless for the rest. Probably the number 1 Autobahn monster/cruiser.
