M3/M4 Official: BMW M3 E92 Concept

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
Re: Officiall: BMW M3 E92 Concept

Is it just me or do some of you feel that the bhp setting is pointless?

I think the M3 should not have a full and lower power setting, especially because BMW will make the car turn on by default in low power mode always, like the M5. Just another annoying step to take every time you want to use what you paid for. However, if you can hack it so it is on by default that is another story. Any M5 experts know the answer to this? If this hack is possible I think the presence of such a button is OK. I may use it to get better mpg in some circumstances.

I'm sold on this car, completely. I set it as my wallpaper at work, and the guy that has a 335i coupe shot me an email about the E92 today. Deutsch the original BMW fanboy is back in full effect. Biznatch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FINAL VERDICT part 2:

After further consideration... it's the bulge only that bugs me... that's the only reason why I'm not hooked on it.

Here's what it should have looked like:

Thanks to ///K for the photoshop! :usa7uh:

I want the bulge on the hood but perhaps not as obvious as on the Concept car. But a bulge is a must Siko.

Maybe a discreet one like the E46 M3... but no more than that for me.

+1. I am of the exact same opinion. While I'm playing "weekend designer" can we also ditch most of the ribbing and pockets in the rear bumper cover??

Mmm the rear bumper is a bit ricey like the M-package bumper. The front bumper is tight as hell.

See, I hated the rear M-package bumper in the pics but loved it in real life... so i'm not so concerned here either.

I just realized that the rear spoiler is the same as the front spoiler. Same design.

Perverts! :D

also guys remember th M6 has a CF roof
i personally love the CF roofs, better performance along with looking good, how can you go wrong.

Exactly! :usa7uh:

What, no SMG ?!

Didn't Scott say that there will be 6-spd manual and SMG available because the DCT (ZMG?) isn't ready for production (the M engineers weren't 100 % satisfied with it yet)?

I'm with you Luw. Can't see the benefit of the feature.

I just noticed the size of the brake calipers on the concept car. They are tiny, espically the rear ones. When will BMW introduce carbon-ceramic disc brakes, and proper mono-block multi piston calipers. I know bigger calipers will increase unsprung weight but that is still better than having fading brakes and crashing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but surely having less power would increase the fuel economy, meaning that when you're just driving around town and going to the shops, you still have a fairly powerful car, which would be more economical, but when your smoking that porsche, press the button for the increased power!:D

Also having less power would make it easier not to go at silly speeds and get your licence taken away from you!

400hp is very useful during wintertime, using all effect affect the traction. Also driving in the cities the M5 drink fuel like hell so the P400 mode is a better setting than the P500.

Not necesarily. There are that are both more powerfull and (more) fuel efficient.
Z06 comes to mind, also in Formula 1 the cars now equipped with the Wimp-O-8s drink more fuel than the ones equipped with the mighty - V10s.

So less power can also mean higher fuel consumption.

We'll have to wait and see!

BTW, does anyone know if there are different fuel economy stats for the M5 in P400 and P500 modes?

a friend of mine own a M5 E60 and he is driving in the cities a lot, the car drink less in P400 than P500. How much the difference are , I dont know but as long as it helps just a little bit , I see no problem with P400.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
