3 Series BMW E92 3er Coupe: official PR text & info.

The BMW 3 series is a line of compact executive cars manufactured by the German automaker BMW since May 1975. BMW's best selling model, it is the successor to the 02 series. Since 2013, the coupé and convertible models have been marketed as the 4 Series. The M version of the 3 series, the M3, debuted with the E30 M3 in 1986.

E92 out perfoming the 911? Sorry but I can't see that happening. The M6 can't even beat the 911S. Since when has a bimmer been able to out perform a Porsche?

We are fencing, and suddenly you have dropped your sword; My freind my freind, the E92 and E63 are two completely different cars. The 6er is a GT, meant for cruising, and because it's a BMW, it is also meant for eating corners. The 3er coupe? Even more intensely atheletic than the 6er in terms of dynamic properties, the 3er coupe is a sportscar. Therefore it perfectly matches the 911 Carrera for competitive performance comparison, so as long as you're speaking of the 335i. The performance numbers are a lot alike(don't have them right in front of me, but I know this), the size is spot on, pricing, quite a gap; I wouldn't expect these two to become cross shopped w/ one another, but for the sake of a performance comparison they match.

BMW vs. Porsche? Very plausible and realistic comparo, one just has more a focus on sportscars than the other(that has changed actually w/ the introduction of the Cayenne), but both very sporting and an intense driving experience. Really comes down to what cars you're comparing.

Osna, you've suggested that BMW has switched the philosophy for its sedans and its coupes. I'd rather have both be aggressive, rather than one being sedate and another being aggressive.

The sedate-ness, to me at least, does nothing for BMW. They did it with the sedans before because they had to appeal to a larger crowd (being the bread & butter models), but now that BMW has attained a higher level of design acceptance with its Avant-garde designs, they should strive for making all of its models aggressive, or at least, looking decidedly sporty.

Agressive and agressive isn't by any means avant-garde, but just a note that becomes flat when it becomes a design and "tonal" crutch. (Not to deminish what they've accomplished in the past years - that's really been the Infiniti approach)

Aside from the forthcoming X5, BMW has completed their round of the game changer models, mixing up the formula to such a degree that they've pulled themselves out of "crib me" territory.

We all know that the 3er coupe is the aggressor in the 3er stable, so why make it extravertedly so? Insead of going the ovbious route, they've done a subtle take on what's obviously a very athletic car, and the results are more sophisticated than what we'd have otherwise.

It's counterintuitive, but in practice it works, and makes the BMW lineup that more interesting. No doubt the agression will make itself known with the M3, but still - I think we'll be looking at something more tempered than what we're accustomed to, as is the case with the M6.

I feel equal amounts of "BMW-vibe" being expressed with all the 3ers, something I couldn't really say about the E46 generation - especially after the facelifts were done.

This has to be the worst angle for this car. The rear just looks really long and weird.

its funny that you say that because the CLK has just as much overhang if not more and looks droopy and saggy compared to the athletic 3 coupe.

I am sorry if this has been seen already, but if not, has anyone seen this yet?

Hi there. :t-cheers:

Does someone knows if 3.0L diesel Bi-Turbo (used in new X3 facelift) will be released in E92? 335d or 330sd?

One of big gaps of BMW is the gearbox, dont you agree with me?
Audi DSG is amazing (I try it in Audi A3 2.0 TDI)
Mercedes-Benz 7G-Tronic it's amazing too (I try it in Mercedes-Benz CLS 320 CDi)

What BMW can do about this? I hope BMW do something fast :D because E92 seems to be a stunning car and deservs a better gearbox, at least with same performance of a manual gearbox (DSG and 7G-Tronic have better performance than manual gearbox).

Maybe order a E92 335d with DSG :D
