how can it be a cheap substitute if CF is still available. It's not replacing anything, it's an added option to individualize your interior.

Okay. Now I understand what you are saying. I view it as a cheap substitute because I think it is intended to look like cf at a cheaper price. You see it as a completely separate alternative. Let's agree to disagree on this one mate!

no probs, I understand one can find this not to his liking. To each his own. I just thought it was weird to view a full leather interior as a cheap substitute. It's pretty nice, our car has it.

btw, it's also so that in pictures, interiors can look horrible, especially with BMW press pictures. It could be that it's far better IRL.

Plastic is cheap in comparison to real wood. Leather is cheap in comparison to real CF.

I'd rather have my expensive CF on the roof than the dash.

I in fact don't like the usual glossy cf dash and from what I heard/read it is a horror to maintain - gets easily scratched up.

Next up is the BMW M3 Cabrio to be announced in October and although you fret about weight - A lot of the weight has been severely reduced.
Shooting will take place in Scotland - A fantastic road with lots of curves and fantastic scenery called A816. Valencia, Spain and Cape Town, South Africa.

Any rough estimate when/where the BMW E90 M3 sedan shooting will take place? Thanks.

The M3 sedan will be introduced next year. Shooting for marketing the car will probably commence late this year or early next year. Where? Anywhere there is great driving roads , I wont be working on this one as I was only scheduled the Coupe and Cabrio , Now with the Coupe out in the open and the Cabrio being storyboarded and evaluated on as we speak !

Interesting thing about the M3 film - The visual effects were digitally created by Hollywood effects house ILM - known for their work on Star Wars amongst many other bodies of work and the upcoming Transformers movie.
Well the M3 is a blockbuster in many terms...

LOL, no, James... This is de-tuned engine from M5, 2 cyl less and lower displacement. If i'm not mistaken...

Detuned? No way. Given the flat, broad torque curve and the improved hp/l I would call it the tuned M5 with -2 cylinders.

Finally, some perspective on the silly CF and CF look leather . CF in the interior of a car, unless it saves weight (which is very doubtful) or is part of an exposed structural part, is poser/ricer. I would never get CF trim nor the even lamer leather made to look sort of like CF in the interior of my M3.

okay, its agreed that the leather with the CF look is a bit lame, but i guess i could live with it...... It would be intersting to know what it will look like after a couple of years of wear and tear though.

But BMW always manages to amaze me now and again. Why couldnt they just put the same CF trim as found on the M6? After all the M3 is supposed to be the most hard-core and best selling derivative of the entire ///M Range.... Anywayz, im not going to whine about these small things but BMW should realise that these small things do make a very big difference to a few ppl.

I cant wait for the 4 door to come out so that we can finally see comparisons with the benchmark RS4.... I have a wierd feeling that the RS4 is still going to be the better car.

I agree BMW Power, but it'll be very easy to change the CF leather with real Alu or real CF is you want to...

I'll wait for some more interior pics before I judge this CF leather. I might like it for my M3 if I decide to buy one.

if they got one thing right..its that sound. .god damn what an improvement over the last M3..

im more and more warming up to this car.. i like the profile..and rear now..
my issues remain with the rimms,the front and the interior..
lets hope it changes when i see it

The dark rimms are the 18´s right?? in that case those are the hotter ones of the 2..i wish they could offer those in 19.. as the 19´s are to boring.. and a design we have lived with several years now ( with the M5)

Meh, rims are something that you can change any time. A lot of people on E90post for example switch out rims all the time, so I'm not worried. As for interior, you can get a combo that isn't as cold as the one they are showing so that's no problem either. As for the front, I think people will start warming up to that hood bulge.

Btw, on that second video that Rik posted, dear god. Sounds amazing. Reminiscent of the E39 M5's V8
