M3/M4 Official: BMW (E92) M3

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
Re: Official Information + Images: BMW M3 V8

Win? this is hardly a competition.

Have anyone figured out yet what kind of tires the new M3 is getting, is it semi r-tires or not?
Name of the tire is Michelin Pilot Sport...

It is hard to read the sidewall. There could be a "II" after the "Sport". The tread pattern looks like PS2 not PS1. :D

Re: Official Information + Images: BMW M3 V8

Those are Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires... I have the same on my car(s)...:D

:t-cheers:

Re: Official Information + Images: BMW M3 V8

Guys, isn't this cf leather trim the same as in the Z4 M!

Not saying I like it though!

Re: Official Information + Images: BMW M3 V8

BTW, does this engine have anything to do with the V8 in say, a 740Li?

Re: Official Information + Images: BMW M3 V8

Yeah, the CF on the zonda and the CL65, how much are these? :eusa_doh:
You can get a real CF trim as extra equipment, 1.220,30 € in Germany.

Best regards, south

well okay those are to expensive..but look at this. .the RS4 CF..looks ALOT better.. the thing is..
the BMW CF shown in that pic.. is real Carbon Fibre i belive..
but the diffrence is that BMW hasent put a gloss finish to it..
like all audi has done..
so thats why it in my eyes looks like plastic imitating CF.. and really dull

PS
What do you mean by real CF??

ohh and i know the pic sucks..but its the best i found..

I have PS2 on my E46 M3.

One note: Unless I missed something (very possible given my lack of German), it does NOT appear that there is a special tire package (semi - R or whatever) offered in the German price list.

Can the car beat 8:09 without the semi-R tires such as Cups or Rossos?

I think the answer must be yes. Otherwise, I have to believe there would be an optional fitment for semi-Rs in the price guide.

Re: Official Information + Images: BMW M3 V8

better picture to demonstrate the diffrence in finish of CF panels..

Re: Official Information + Images: BMW M3 V8

I get what you're saying artist, in that picture, the interior of the RS4 looks very stylish and expensive looking, very different to the M3!

So it's no CF at all. If you want CF interior trim, you can get it as extra equipment (so it's a retrofit trim), costs you 1.220,30 € in Germany (page 13 on german price list). But I really do not know how that trim looks, maybe like the M3 Concept center console?
EDIT: here's a picture of the Concept center console:

Re: Official Information + Images: BMW M3 V8

This trim is a leather trim with CF look:

Correct. It is not CF in the picture. It is leather patterned somehow to look life CF. To me, it is sort of like using plastic printed to look like wood. :sponge3up

ohh okay.. if it looks like the concept..im very happy..

thnx for clearing that up man:usa7uh:

Agreed. This is reinforced through the fact that the leather is stitched (notice the stitching). I've never seen CF stitched like that before.

except ofcourse that plastic is cheap and leather isn't, naturally

Re: Official Information + Images: BMW M3 V8

Since we have not heard any news regarding the tires other than that they probably are Michelin Pilot Sports i think that there will not be any R-tires for the ordinary M3. We will have to wait for that feature until the CSL.

Maybe BMW does not want to give R-tires to the M3 in order to keep the distance to CSL?

Re: Official Information + Images: BMW M3 V8

Plastic is cheap in comparison to real wood. Leather is cheap in comparison to real CF.

I think you've really got things mixed up. It's not like this is replacing CF trim. This is just an option to have your interior covered in leather, with a CF look to it.
You can still order one with CF trim if you want to.

I don't know what I have mixed up. All I am saying is that I think the carbonstructure leather looks bad, and is a cheap substitute for real cf, just as plastic wood looks bad and is a cheap substitute for real wood.

Yes from the German price list it does look like you can buy real cf interior trim as a dealer-installed accessory.

how can it be a cheap substitute if CF is still available. It's not replacing anything, it's an added option to individualize your interior.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
