The first M760li has landed in the country. This is also the first official non-SUV RHD BMW to be sold in South Africa with xDrive.
Thanks @Busty. I've driven the G11 quite extensively last year spring. As far as I remember, it was quite direct for my tasteand for me it was less comfortable than the S-Klasse. Objectively speaking, it's a very comfortable car indeed, most comfortable BMW I've ever driven.
One more question: in which month starts the BMW 7er new modelyear? I mean when all new improvements and updates are being processed into the car. Is it march as @Mars1965 stated.
Busty can you tell us more about the 6er GT? Will the prices rise significantly compared to the 5er GT?Sorry @Mick Briesgau for the delayed reply. Too much interference.
@Mars1965 was correct: this month, new G11 received the iD6 from the G30 incl the Live tiles, and the new top-level surface.
By the way, Mick: have the S class troubles you reported on been resolved?
OT: When talking to the Dingolfing guys, I also had the opportunity to inspect the 6er GT. Will start in November, shares the 3er GT outline. May be an improvement for most people, to me it lost sone of its distinctiveness.

Correct. However, the 7 series LCI will be a big change. It's the most extensive LCI BMW has ever done.
I don't know what will be changed but I got word from a bmw power train development employee. Sales of the 7 aren't as good as expected even with all the sales support that BMW is spending. That's why the decision was made to have this be an extensive LCI.
Well, that would be tricky for them to manage (in keeping it too long). I am a bit more concerned with how this affects product cadence in relation to the W205 to W206. I really do not like the idea of them launching a new C-Class, the same year as a new S-Class. However, I guess with so many models on the roster, they have no choice but to do that.
I agree immensely, as I had said 5-6 years ago, that the W222 replacement was going to be a major revolution, observing the evolutionary differences between W221 and W222.
That is a mistake one can see BMW made with the G11, as people were expecting a visual revolution after 14 years due to "pairing" of design generations. In how E32 and E38 were one together, then E65 and F01 were seen as another pair, but when G11 also followed that as a threesome, it wasn't pleasing to many.
Oh ho-ho, I knew it! The second I saw a Job #1 date of March 2019 for the G11 LCI, I immediately knew that meant it was rushed forward. This reminds me of how BMW rushed the E65 LCI, that as early as mid-late 2002 it was being discussed on various forums heavily (next to W220 facelift and W221) and already seen testing in 2003.
BMW tried to officially explain it away, as "following regular product cycles", but that was not the truth AT ALL. The E38 LCI arrived in September 1998, 4 1/2 years after Job #1 in February 1994.
A second E38 refresh was introduced a year and half later in April 2000 (MY 2001 in U.S.) for mysterious reasons unbeknownst to me, but was the most beautiful 7er ever IMHO and first one my family owned.
Was it that back in 1996 during E38 LCi decision-making, they waivered between an M-Sport aesthetic and generic classic BMW aesthetic? The E53 X5 ended up in a similar predicament via optioning (amber vs clear lenses), until LCI in 2003. The E39 and non-U.S. E46 changed colouring of lenses with the LCi as well. Anyway, back to 7er.
YET unlike the E38, the E65 LCI arrived in March 2005, just 3 years and 4 months after market launch in November 2001. Not only that, it was a VERY heavy one. Clearly it is the very same story here at just 3 years and 8 months, which is sad in how the market is responding to the G11.
Are the pics froms you @Mick Briesgau? If so, what do you think about the overall differences between each car's interiors?
The more G11 7ers I see on the road the stranger the rumors about a deep FL of the car sound to me.
This is the best looking 7er since the E38. By far.
The 7er oozes much more luxury and refinement inside. To me, the perceived quality of materials and fit and finish in the 7er are well above of those in the 5er. Above that, the 5er uses a lot of the same cheap, glossy black plastics as can be seen in the W213, but more spread over the interior. I for one, feel much more at home in the 7er than in the 5er.Are the pics froms you @Mick Briesgau? If so, what do you think about the overall differences between each car's interiors?
