The 7er oozes much more luxury and refinement inside. To me, the perceived quality of materials and fit and finish in the 7er are well above of those in the 5er. Above that, the 5er uses a lot of the same cheap, glossy black plastics as can be seen in the W213, but more spread over the interior. I for one, feel much more at home in the 7er than in the 5er.
Edit: and may I add, the 5er shown is an almost €90.000 car

On several occasions I've expressed my opinion about the 7er's interior and the differences I see between the S-klasse and the 7er. Don't want to repeat myself here, hope you understand @SKY. The 5er interior is ok, but not special and by no means better than the one of the W213. You can very clearly see, where BMW is saving money/maximizing profits. Let's put it this way, both W213 and G30 interior are typical for the respective brand. Both are in some areas sub par of what one would expect in this price category. That's what bugs me most. You pay for a well equiped W213/G30 easy more than € 90.000, but interiorwise it doesn't look like it.

BMW don't seem to put out much data on the G1x 7-er interior dimensions (as far as I've seen)...

However, I've put this together from the diagram in the E23 drivers handbook, and the G11 specs on BMW.de

.. and, having sized them both to the same scale, I've overlaid the two profiles, based on the drivers seat being in the same position, so you can get an idea of interior space, compared to exterior size...

For me the 7 is not now but still the better looking car.
It's always a personal matter of opinion.
