With that front bumper, I can see why BMW Australia has opted to make the m sports kit standard.

Crazy in my opinion. There's not too much wrong with it; customers ought to have a choice. I hope BMW SA doesn't follow suit but something niggles me that they will.

And then what? M-Sport across the board - how will this affect choices in suspension? Down here M-Sport means the stiffer suspension by default. If that's the case it's a deal breaker for me and the 3er. I've driven in dozens of M-Sports and disliked the unyielding ride every time. Total overkill for a family vehicle or am I missing something like there's no such thing as a family saloon anymore?

The 3 Series is my business and family vehicle for everyday use which - because of its inherent RWD dynamics - still offers driver enjoyment when the odd occasion arises. Moreover, I prefer pitching up at clients in something more discreet than the wannabe racer M-Sport.

More the pity would be the denial of choice as there are a number of intriguing combination between the various lines. Luxury line in darker metallics with bright accents and certain wheels looks very premium. Equally Sport line in plain white has just enough visual appeal to look smart without being flashy.

We have seen pics of the G20 with the standard bumper looking quite good. Far better than other alternatives in the segment IMO. But it is true this pic you are quoting is terrible, basically due to the fugly color and the tiny rims.

Totally agree, and unlike Mercedes BMW Oz has allowed m sports packages with deleted m sports suspension before. I'm not sure what the case is with the new 3 to be honest. You can order a luxury line if you wish, but dealer stock will have m sports styling as standard.

It's an odd decision though given that the C class, which is the undisputed sales king here, probably has a 50/50 sales split.

G20 Torsional Rigidity

Larger of this value, the better:

E46 - 18,000 Nm/deg
E90 - 22,500 Nm/deg
F30 - 29,300 Nm/deg
G20 - 36,625 Nm/deg (based on 25% more than predecessor)

E46 M3 GTR (w/roll cage) - 46,000 Nm/deg
F80 M3 - 40,000 Nm/deg

G20 is approaching F80 M3 stiffness overall, and even higher in body stiffness in certain area i...

Unfair comparison because all are in different dimension chassis .
M3 versions are always stronger because intend maximum power of current chassis

Any option of beige leather seats or something light colour like beige dashboard, will be fine contrast with exterior

So it was in a glimpse and I didn’t really have much time to react, but I finally saw the new 3er in all it’s glory on the public roads here in holland:

F’ing spectacular. What a beauty.

Rear end looks great and gives the appearance of something larger than a 3 series.

I wonder when the first road tests will be out, cant wait to see the comparisons with its arch rivals. This could possibly be the best all round 3 series in history.

The only thing I don‘t like in the interior is the automatic gear lever. I would prefer the one of the 5- and 7-series which is the most beautiful which I have ever seen. But this is only my personal opinion.
