1 Series [Official] BMW 1-series M Coupe

The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. Positioned as the entry-level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles.
Harf arsed press release for a half arsed M Car.

Must be quite insulting for the E30 to have to share a pic with that M.

Holy crap.....

So says a man who has not driven the car, I would rather believe Chris Harris from EVO who drove the car and waxed lyrical about its performance.

:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

BTW, Tumbo....DAMN! Thanks so much for those pics. These are by far the best so far.
Nothing in Sapphire Black or Alpine White yet???

Also, the car has 310/320 Nm torque at 1.000 RPM! Amazing! And 450 Nm (with 50 Nm overboost 500) at 1500 RPM. Fantastic!!!!
That's almost like an electric engine where the engine has all torque at idle RPM...

Looks awesome indeed inside out..9/10 stars from me.
OK,maybe,if I need to be 100 percent honest..I don´t like two things..and those are : engine is not so "special" as in other M cars (not including X5/6 because I don´t see ´em as true M cars to begin with ) and fixed LCD screen (looks rather odd and unnecessary IMO)..

PS - Just imagine this car with E46 M3 CSL´s engine under the hood..Now,that would be just EPIC,don´t you agree?

When you look at the 1M Coupe you see actually a very outstanding car initially from the original proposal. Whilst it is true that the budget given to develop this car is actually a tiny fraction of M's Super Sedan the M5 massive budget. For the amount of money and time they had for the 1M Coupe they have pulled off a materstroke.

Going into initial proposals you have blank sheet of paper and split into two colulms , one for what you expect for an M car , The other in what to do to make it a great M car.
At the very beginning the proposal involved everything that makes a typical BMW M Coupe. Unfortunately everything that makes a great BMW M Coupe was not attainable due to the low budget.

BMW did not want to fully commit seeing as the car has a relatively short production window. At first not everyone was convinced but now everybody is a believer.

Look at this car now and look at it closely because it is what is attainable when when you have limited resources to work with, it is also the appetizer , given the response to the car when it was undergoing development. The next generation 1er M Coupe or M2? has been given a much larger development budget so next time round , there is more freedom to progress ideas that could not be attained because of cost within the next car.

The next 1M (M2 - because BMW are looking at seperating the 1er family especially with the sporty variants such as Coupe and Cabrio apart from the 1er expansion with 1er concepts such as GT , F.A.S.T. , CST.)

Will see a more direct response from M Division for more sporting concepts especially for the 1M successor and the next M3. BMW believe that the GTS has proved that there is a market for such concepts in a similar progression as the Porsche 911. Although BMW's would be more straightforward with familiar signatures with the standard car followed by a more track co-ordinated and lightweight special.

Many feel that the M Division has become to focused with luxury and these additional 1M and M3's will set the bar for more focused compact and premium entry sports cars aswell as their standard luxury siblings.
The M5 will remain as the perfect synthesis between luxury and performance.

The new engines that will feature for the next 1M and M3 are already in development , given BMW's desire to fully commit to the new baby M car.
With the 1er resorting to a four cylinder and the M3 returning to six cylinders.

SCOTT, can you just please say when will the 1M will be avaliable in Gran Turismo 5 as a DLC?

Smokin' tires on my desktop...

But I'm not a big fan of the car. I'm waiting for Nurburgring times.
Was going to buy a SLK 55 Performance Amg Pack this week, now I must wait.

H-a-w-t-n-e-s-s!! The real 'pocket-rocket'... Bmw has done it again, only the E30 M3 had that aggressive profile & muscular layout! I'm sold. :usa7uh:

I usually prefer white but judging solely on the way the chops look, probably black for me as well. Just seems to suit the car better.

Sapphire Black or Alpine White for me. Probably Sapphire Black. Love it.

Btw, BMW needs a HTML 5 version of it's website :(
