M3/M4 [Official] 2021 BMW M3 and M4 [G80 & G82]

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

Could it be that BMW indeed sees its GTS and CSL badges as non-interchangeable due to having a slightly different philosophy, the former meaning more of a hardcore track weapon deliberately compromised for everyday use, the latter allowing for a thrilling purist/enthusiast experience indeed but less brash and rowdy and more pleasant and inviting to daily use?

...If this is true, then again, the entire potential BMW M portfolio could be thus arranged along the trackability spectrum:

M LM/LMDh (racecars ≡ GT1/GT2)
M GT3/GT4/GTR (racecars)
M GTS
M CSL
M CS
M Competition
M High Performance (base M)
M Performance
M Sport
(The M Performance accessory line ambiguously wearing the same name as the M Performance a.k.a. "M Lite" actual model range, while in fact offering a broad line of products spanning across pretty much the entire M spectrum).

Why have "M" at the beginning. It really means nothing if it attached to so many things.

Obviously. Just for the sake of compiling a consistent list, since many other manufacturers are also using labels such as GTR/GTS/GT3...

Hadn't thought about looking twice ?. But I guess if it was a f*** up then it could always be considered as the go-between CS

CS could make sense based on the wheels, but it looks to have the CSL's front bumper and ducktail... so I think we can conclude... it's just a bit of a shit model!

M4CSL 8 days to go

In the photo it seems that the A-pillar was black
The wheels according to yesterday's photos seem to be all black, hopefully there is another option

A seemingly very accurate imitation of the CS/CSL grille:

The logo looks nice there, is it the same one they are putting on everyone for the 50th anniversary? because I see it differently

Red accents......Does anyone know what colors will be available?

Here is my take on the 3.0 CSL,
Everyone loved the concept when it was introduced, I even remember Clarkson asking please to build it.
A year ago SupercarBlondy and Diorc hinted that it was possible on request.....
It is seen that 50 people supported the idea

If they must respect the Hardpoints of the current M4 I think that....../...hopefully that
put a concept body on the mixed/adapted GT3 chassis with the CSL from May 20th, as @advantage20 suggests, something that will break all records.

How to do something spectacular without detracting from the current M4?

I think they will make a concept car for the street, based on the previous 3.0 CSL concept but much crazier (if you can think of that...) and obviously updated, and I think it will be the prelude/glimpse or "vision concept car" of what could be the future M4 replacing the current one, only 50 people who pay well, will have the pleasure of having it with due anticipation.

As it is said that it has been approved for more than a year, I am dying to see that design.
Only my two cents....

It will be interesting to see how they update a concept like the Homage essentially designed in 2014/2015 to suit today’s aesthetics.
From all accounts it appears to be an M4 with a coach-built body. So it will be an interesting contrast visually.
This is apparently the “mule” for the Hommage.

Most noticeably, will it switch over to the newest upside down, or rather downside up, Γ-shaped, DRLs like all other imminent models (3er LCI, X1, X5 LCI...) just for the sake of being "up to date", whilst the original 3.0 CSL Hommage Concept design clearly works perfectly with the older style U-shape corona rings?

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
