The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. Any leads on the reveal date? BMW said to expect something 'special' at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year as preparations for ///M's 50th anniversary continue.

If you still get a leather dashboard in a CSL car, I don't understand why can't you get a damn armrest?
 
Because you shall have both of your fuc... hands on the steering wheel. It is a track car, not a cruiser :cool:

True, but I don’t understand why it has leather dash, it’s heavier and the driver doesn’t have time to look at the nice interior. It’s a track car, the driver has to focus on the track!
 
Haven't been into this generation of the M3/M4 but this could change my mind!

Yes, the F82 M4 coupe(s) (as well as the F32 4er coupe(s)) were the last BMWs that genuinely and unconditionally appealed to me. Aesthetically beautiful automobiles. The interiors were and remain very nice places to be.

Right, getting rid of the central armrest + closed off storage compartment underneath it to "save weight" is ridiculous when the everyday practicality cost is so high and the weight reduction so low -- especially given other greater factors such as the driver's body weight varying more throughout the day (let alone likely not being in optimal shape), hauling a bit of luggage around, or topping up the fuel tank (which everyone will do) instead of constantly running to the gas station. This is still a daily usable track competent car after all, right?

Sometimes it's like they purposely deprive you of something you need, make you pay for the loss, and try to make you proud of it. The carbon center console looks badass though and will make the owner feel like a racing driver, and that must be the actual reason.

Talking of usability, I can't quite see into the rear but it appears that there is either some kind of fixed bench as opposed to 2 normal seats. Or maybe they haven't finished with the rear yet.

Rear seating delete I would guess? However there doesn't seem to be a rollcage instead -- just like the E46 M3 CSL didn't have one either -- contrary to the E92 M3 GTS and the F82 M4 GTS which both had a rollcage ? Could it be that BMW indeed sees its GTS and CSL badges as non-interchangeable due to having a slightly different philosophy, the former meaning more of a hardcore track weapon deliberately compromised for everyday use, the latter allowing for a thrilling purist/enthusiast experience indeed but less brash and rowdy and more pleasant and inviting to daily use?
