Agreed. It has improved like any good faceflit. However, it's still the same overall design. I'm just finding it funny that some people are acting as if it has to be "digested" or something as if it's a new design. Same design, same proportions, exact same side profile, etc. Not anything to really have a revelation about.

Really, it's the PR fancified pictures that may be doing it if anything. This is why I never really look at press pics. Bad representation of real life. Grainy, real life camera's taken by real life people are always my favs. You see the trueness of a design there.

the dashboard is embarassing for top premium segment, you can keep the analogue dials (which I prefer) but the warning signs shouldn't be the same with almost all toyota branded cars ! I am not picking but the whole rear panel should have been LCD type.

The thing is...sometimes when people comment on a car, they don't go and analyze/decipher every detail of it. I am certain the GCF community really appreciates people who take the time to break down elements of the car, whether it be the lines, the proportions, or the flow of the vehicle, but often times its a lot simpler. While many enthusiasts will quickly be able to recognize that the new LS is not radically different both in its engineering and design, the majority does not notice this. For me, the new LS is a big enough change to leave me content. The front alone does not make me think of the old gen, and neither does the rear. In fact, examples from MB, such as the ML, GL, and SL, share qualities in its design that are more suggestive towards their ancestors than the LS ever evokes.

I don't really like the F Sport branding, especially on a sedan as large as the LS, but I can appreciate where they are going by improving the handling and interior look. Lexus never had an issue with build quality - but perceived quality of its interiors have always fallen short. The new GS totally revamped what I thought about Lexus and this new LS's interior looks like it will do the same. Good handling will also be a big plus - one of the major complaints of its sanitised predecessor was its dull ponderous handling. If they can perfect the ride, plus give a bit of edge to its driving dynamics, Lexus is on the right track.

But er, just drop the F-sport name and make the perfect ride and handling balance standard on all LS models!

With 21" rims the new LS will be a very good looking limo IMO. I like it. It however lacks a true performance model with + 500 PS. The TMG is making ~ 650 PS, but who knows whether it will go on sale.

I hate those wing mirrors, in design and position, it just looks wrong to have them mounted on the door instead of the A-Pillar on a luxury car. Overall though I think its a nice enough design, if the window area was a little bigger it would be very good indeed. Still, I cant see this beating the F01/2 LCI ( and definitely not the W222 )

It is down to the aerodynamic and refinement reasons to have the wing mirrors position on the door, away from the A-pillar.

I agree in general and fact is, it's Toyota/Lexus own design, heritage and progress within the framework of their own criteria and history. Unlike the KIA K9 flagship which is a copy+paste job from established brands like Lexus, Audi, BMW, Benz etc. of which the end result translates into nothing else than a Korean trifle-pudding
So then in the end the Lexus is a Lexus, whether I like the car/design or not (which I don't) is subjective. What I do like is that the brand (Lexus) does it's own thing in it's own way the Lexus way And not following some Korean trifle recipe...

Not to such an extend that you can point to - this is a exact copy of e.g. BMW Gear shifter, Benz electric seat control etc...as is the case of the K9.

I have never looked at a Lexus and seen a Mercedes. I have, however, seen a S-Class in a Genesis many times before.

I think Lexus is forming its own identity very nicely now... In the generation of the LS430 it maybe was still a follower. Now it is forging its own ways, albeit differently IMO to the Germans.

Like we see the way the doors lock with a 'lever' type button - we see it as cheap, but really it is just the Japanese way of doing things. We perceive it as cheap because we see it in all other Japanese cars. Same thing for the cheap-looking buttons - I believe there is a reason behind them, and that's they don't wear out as quickly as conventional, soft-touch buttons. 5 years on, the buttons on a used LS460 still looks brand new.

Plus now with the new GS and the spindle grille, whether you like it or not Lexus can finally call something its own - an identity.

Is Lexus the very best Japanese brand? Like I know BMW is the best German brand so i wanted to compare

Well, that's pretty subjective. But in the premium luxury segment, the Japanese only have Lexus and Infiniti I reckon. Unless I missed out anything else!

I don't see Acura much in that part of the world, yeah..

Toyotas and Hondas...for sure, the former has a formidable reputation, although it had a few low moments.

Infiniti is good...Lexus apparantly gets alot of criticism here ...but Nissan is sick!

The LS is really beautiful. Maybe the front could be improved, but it is no worse than the A8. This is IMO the best facelift ever. It did alot to the car.
