LS [Official] 2013 Lexus LS

Those are specialty cars, which are exceptions.

Actually, I find the IS-F to be physically and soulfully drab and boring as well. You can take about any car and beef it up with body kits and great drivetrains/suspensions, but the "soul" and core design is still an IS, which doesn't move nor inspire me in the least.

Awesome performance by dance artists Enra choreographed by Nobuyuki Hanabusa for the 2013 Lexus LS introduction event in Japan. Not much to do with cars, other than "LS" but worth looking.

The 2013 Lexus LS is outclassed by all its rivals, but its refinement, equipment, construction quality and V8 powertrain still appeal

"The New Ultimate Driving Machine"?

I just stumbled on this video on youtube, i never even concern myself with anything lexus.

But this is really worth a view, the dude is super cool and honest, and it explains Lexus in a way that was lost to me.
Also i find it very funny how they tried to achieve a car that's fun to drive, such a Japanese approach, which might be the reason to why they never get there fully, but interesting and entertaining nonetheless..:)

Yep ... it sounds like androids learning about fun in general ... :D

"What's fun anyway?" "Let's define & systematize fun." "What's excitement?" "Oh, let's take an existing exciting product, examine it, copy it ... and then our product will be exciting too."

So notorious for the culture that's way too systematic, too organized, too technical. Not understanding the concept of "it", "x factor", "mojo" etc. A culture that tends to design & engineer emotions, feelings etc ... And to me that's very much android-ish. Interesting cultural difference indeed. Who are the "aliens" here? Tho ones who understand "it", or the ones who don't? :cyclops:

So (referring to Vid posted by The Artist) it's the same old rediicilous sh!t all over again, dejavu!
Whilst the German OEM's design Driving Machines and i am including both MB an BMW here becuase they are the benchmark rivals that was used in comparison by Lexus. The two most respected German car brands are being milked and copied the sh!t out of their expertise and long know-how of 'fun to drive' (more BMW) and the solid luxury drive from MB.

Alright, so if your a chief engineer for Lexus with a goal set on bettering a replacement for an outgoing model you do what all Eastern OEM's do, you look, drive and learn from the people who invented and perfected the car, the Germans. Then you try to copy+paste without braking the copyright laws and you have a new IS.

Lazy, lame ass and boring. So if I see a Lexus driver again I will see that person as inferior as his/her lame ass car they drive for it's a mere "I wanna be like Mike" copied product of the REAL thing(s).

WTF!? It's a joke! Japanese, Korean copy+paste and I suppose China will soon follow. Toyota is such an old company why not just try and do it without trying so hard to be German? I truly doubt Eastern intelligence (sorry, is that a racist remark!? Not meant to be, though I could easily be judged since I am a 37 year old caucacasian South-African:D:angelic:)

Standing ovation for the bald 37 year old caucasian South-African, please

Haha first of all i just realized i posted this is the LS thread not the IS.

And damn you 2 went balls to the walls crazy on Lexus.

I think reality is that all car brands benchmark their cars against the competition, i know Volvo brought in a CLS 63 AMG ( don't know why the f they would do that as they have nothing in their portfolio close to that) and so does everyone else.
But the thing is, he at-least admits that their product is/was inferior.
Now the interesting part is how he tackles this dilemma, does he go on to test, analyze and copy. Or does he test and tries to understand and make some of their own magic.
That part was left unsaid in the video, and i think it will forever be unsaid, the lexus fans will say that they bring their own magic the LFA is a living proof of their capabilitys, while the german fans might call the copy cats outright.

Anyway i thought it was good video..it shows how cold the japanese approach is.

It may sound rediculous to you all, but Toyota starting to build cars way more "fun to drive" than the germans. It started by the LFA, went to the GT86 and will surely go on. I'll be surprised if the new IS won't be the best drivers car in this segment. Why can't Lexus build more "German" cars if German cars are themselves gettting more "Asian"?

There's a difference between having a fun-to-drive top of the line car, like the LF-A and a volume selling one like the 3er.

Of course, we all have to admit that the GT-86 is a blast to drive!
