Coming to this thread makes me so sad.

I've loved every S coupe. Each has had its special place within the line-up and look beautiful in their own right to this day.

I have faith that Mercedes will bring back a large luxury coupe and convertible at some point. It's a glaring omission for enthusiasts, if not sheer buyers/sales. I love my W140 S500, but I would love a C140 CL600. They're really hard to find in good shape and trying to fix on a tattered one will break you.

I have no idea whether Mercedes-Benz intends to push on with the heralded "Mythos" (very) limited series, bespoke editions. If that strategy hasn't since been cancelled, it would appear logical to me that some sort of large, luxurious 4 seat, 2 door coupe and perhaps a cabriolet version will appear sometime a bit further down the road. W224-based, I suspect. Perhaps as a Maybach ?

I read that once, but Mercedes just doesn't inspire confidence. They're putting on more make up and lipstick with cars like the SL680 and the SL AMG Mythos instead doing the hard work of truly creating special cars that inspire lust and effortlessly opens wallets. The G Cabriolet will or should be one such product. Hopefully the top will have a wide range of colors and the full Manufaktur catalog is on offer. I would honestly rather they not do these cars if they're not going to truly make them special. Think about how the SL680 would have been with a V12 and the entire Manufaktur catalog available from the start? The car would be sold out. I would love to see a new S Coupe or even a Maybach coupe, but it has to be right, it can't be half-assed like the SL680. Yes the SL680 annoys the shit out of me lol, its the biggest missed oppurtunity ever.

The AMG SL Maybach is a wasted opportunity gone wrong with its stupid and horribly tacky Maybasch emblems on the hood. The AMG Speedster is also a car that divides opinions, it also looks hideous with the red and black colour scheme. Would be great to see both in Manufaktur colours and with nice interior trims

The S65 has one of the most satisfying cold starts and idle revs in the business. The mechanical starter is loud but quite engaging.
This is one element missing on the newer AMGs. (This cold starter sound should be added to the new GT EV IMO. )

All Mercedes Benz V12 have this starter motor with this high pitching sound.

I personally prefer the M120, but it’s not as loud as the later M275/M279 engines.

That is the opening sound of one of those Benz Youtubers channels. It's very distinctive. A new V12 will always be just a fantasy and a new AMG V12 even more so.

I guess everything is possible, especially on the long term.

Eventually it’ll depend where the priorities are.

As crazy as it sounds, but for us Petrolheads, the best thing which could happen is, If Chinese people stop buying western premium cars ASAP.

If this happens, the NA market would become top priority, we know what the NA people likes to drive, big V8 and V12 luxury cars.

This is exactly what they’d develop in this case.

IMHO, NO S-Class, before and after, has been capable of making the sort of epic impact that the W126 achieved.
