Q7 Next generation Audi Q7 - CGIs, info, spy pics

Wtf? 2016? something has gone VERY wrong here.. its like they axed it and then started from scratch.

2016 will make the Q7 10 years old.. that's the SL life cycle..lol

I can only confirm once again that for the US market the Q7 will stay the same until MY 2016.
Reason being for controversy about the design with the board. Like first reported, the entire design was overthrown and the prototypes are not how the car will look like. Germany might get the car ealier, but the US will not get a new generation Q7 until the earliest 2016.

I wouldn't believe everything you read on the internet

It was a dealership information sheet showing no change for the Q7 until MY 2016.

US MY 2016 is usually introduced in (even early) Spring 2015. Which makes sense. Europe getting the new Q7 in late 2014, while US getting in in early 2015 as MY 2016. No delay here. Everything goes by the plan.

US model years are usually introduced in the Fall, not the Spring. It will be Fall 2015 for a 2016 model in the U.S. if they're following the traditional schedule. The Q7 is old as dirt though so it is late. BMW is one of the main one who uses Spring to introduce the next model year.

True for the existing Mks. New Mks launched in Spring are usually next MY (debut in Spring 2105 = MY 2016).

Yeah that is true, but that isn't what you said initially. Typically new model year introductions are done in the fall. Separate thing from what model yeah will be when it debuts in the spring.

rumors: Q7s Design was overthrown by the Board three weeks ago. The successor is another three years away. also, the board wants a complete design change. 40% of the car have to be reengineered delaying the car until 2016 MY at least

"rumours", "successor is another three years away" ... .

- wishful thinking:

'Audi wird die neue Generation des Q7 auf dem Autosalon in Paris[2014] enthüllen und Anfang 2015 auf den Markt bringen'

http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/...mt-abgespeckt-2015-auf-den-markt-7655131.html

- my, how three years have just flown by!

I actually loved the look of the old one and even now after all these years in production it still looks fresh which is something that can't be said about too many of the others.

I wonder if the replacement's looks will match its durability.

RS5 TDI concept could eventually go into production
According to a recent report, the 2015 / 2016 Audi Q7 will be offered with an engine that features an electric turbocharger.

Speaking to Drive, Audi's head of diesel engine development, Ulrich Weiss, said “I can confirm we are working on the development of the e-boost [engine]" and will bring it to market "very soon." When asked if the engine could debut in the next-generation Q7, Weiss declined to comment but cracked a smile which seemingly confirmed the news.

As we have previously reported, Audi has been working to e-turbo technology for several years. In 2012, they were testing the system on a twin-turbo 3.0-liter TDI V6 which gave it a "distinct boost in performance." More recently, they unveiled the RS5 TDI concept which featured an electrically assisted twin-turbo 3.0-liter TDI V6 that produced 385 PS (283 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque.

Speaking of the latter model, Weiss said the feedback has been very good and there might be a market for a production model in the future.

The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
