Q7 Next generation Audi Q7 - CGIs, info, spy pics

Yes you are right, it's better to judge in terms of price and not size. I am curious to know and wonder if this may result the next gen Q5 to get bigger since we here about the Q1 and the Q3 is already in the family

Thank you, glad to be around fellow cars enthusiast and knowledgeable people

rumors: Q7s Design was overthrown by the Board three weeks ago. The successor is another three years away. :o also, the board wants a complete design change. 40% of the car have to be reengineered delaying the car until 2016 MY at least

You ave to be kidding me... The current Q7 is already long in the tooth as it is, delaying until 2016 makes no sense at all. Especially we saw prototypes of the damn thing

That sounds like bulls**t mate. Designs are agreed way before the big costly engineering process. The board would have known what the car was going to look like before heavy testing and engineering. Look at the reaction the Bently SUV got. Public told the design will be different but development has not been set back 3 years

Yupp. It's hard to believe that they would make such a sharp u-turn this late into the development process. At the end of the day, the middle class will buy the car regardless if it's a stunner or not - the badge does all the work.

It is a sad time for Audi SUV range Q3 is based on 2003 VW Golf, Q5 is based on 2006 Audi A5, Q7 is based on 2002 VW Touareg. Audi is increasingly lagging behind competition at the speed of delivery of replacement models.

The all-new Audi Q7 has been caught on camera once again and this time we have clearer photos of a prototype wearing slightly less camouflage.

Just like in previous spy photos, the new generation of the Audi Q7 seems to be a tad smaller but maybe that is because of the more sloping roofline. In addition, it has a very low ground clearance which is a surprise given the body style. We notice it will have a massive front grille and a completely new bumper with generous air intakes.

The SUV will allegedly go on a massive 800 lbs (363 kg) diet and will be equipped with 6- and 8-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, including a 3.0-liter V6 TFSI with 310 HP (228 kW) and a 4.2-liter V8 TDI generating 385 HP (283 kW).

Later on during the car's lifespan we expect to see a plug-in hybrid packing a 3.0-liter TDI and an electric motor which pumps out an extra 115 HP (84 kW). According to long-timeWCF user w0bBle, an entry-level Q7 will be offered with a small 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter TDI along with a range-topping model with a V8 TDI powering the SQ7 Diesel.

Expect the car to receive its first public outing in March 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show. If that won't happen, the new Q7 will likely be showcased in September at the Paris Motor Show. Either way, the SUV will go on sale towards the end of next year as a 2015MY.

^It really depends on whether you were a fan of the last model or not because I imagine this will be evolutionary rather than revolutionary.

I thought Audi was responsible for SUV chassis development. Only reason could be to fit in line with development and manufacturing cycles but a new generation Q7 is due and will fit nicely with the coming Bently SUV

This is more than an early test prototype. Early prototypes are usually the old body on the new generation chassis, usually with a different wheel footprint observable by adapted wheel arches to accommodate a changed track and axel dimension. However the pics show a new body- probably home to new engines and associated ancillaries, different greenhouse, new wing mirrors and new front and rear lights. I don't think I've ever seen Audi use a different light system to what the finished article is intended to have during testing. We probably do not even see true early prototypes on public roads and probably initially tested begind closed doors on one of VAGs many testing facilities. However these A1 lights we see are obviously not the all LED units and may just be the standard lights we will see. So I guess they're s**t for a reason- so customers option up for the LED's that are most likely going to be amazing.

Scoop: Audi Slims Down and Shapes Up an All-New Q7 SUV

We've not only established that the prototype our spies captured last time is indeed the new Audi Q7, but we can now show you much clearer and better photos of the second generation of the full-size luxury crossover from Ingolstadt that's expected to debut at next year's Paris Motor Show before going on sale in early 2015.
The current Q7 is a behemoth, in size, looks and, of course, weight. Audi will slim down the new model, which will utilize the VW Group's MLB modular toolkit as well as many aluminum components, dropping more than 300 kg (over 660 pounds) in the process.

It won't shrink in size, but it will look less bloated and more athletic, implementing the brand's latest and more chiseled design language.

The engine headlines will include the usual crop of V6 and V8 diesel and gasoline units, but Audi may add a four-cylinder turbo diesel on the bottom end of the range and a turbocharged V8 on the top for the S Q7. An e-tron-badged Q7 hybrid is almost certain to join the lineup at some point.

I can only confirm once again that for the US market the Q7 will stay the same until MY 2016.
Reason being for controversy about the design with the board. Like first reported, the entire design was overthrown and the prototypes are not how the car will look like. Germany might get the car ealier, but the US will not get a new generation Q7 until the earliest 2016.

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932.
