Mercedes-Benz W221 S-class sales fall

TRUST ME, all the manufacturers are SCARED. This 'crisis' is real for many Americans.

Here is an sales reportage from my local car dealerships:

Audi A8- sold 27 units
BMW 7 series- Sold 19
Lexus LS -sold 66 units
Mercedes-benz S class - Sold 92 units
JAGUAR XJ - Sold 9 units
Information from Ray Catena Dealerships, last month

The S-class gets good sales around my area.

I was going to say that it is interesting to see the A8 outsell the 7-Series. The Jaguar XJ, well what can I say. A dying breed. Saw a white one the other day, brand new 2008 model. Gorgeous. Looked like something out of a dream sequence.

Not in the U.S. it wouldn't, not yet. The new 7 is months and months away from a U.S. debut.

MB sold 6800 unites w221 s classes in the first six months of 2008 in china. And since they indroduced AMG to China last year,200 unites were sold most of which were S65 and G55,which are the most expensive models, outselling bmw M cars(m5 and m6 are available) by a big margin.

The slowdown in North America is much quicker than anticipated. Imagine how you would feel if you are the CEO of Porsche? Your sales are slowing down rapidly and have two critical models (Panamera and Cayenne) due in the next 24 months that are aimed at the North American market.

The slowing US economy and the declining US dollar is really hurting European carmakers.
