The BMW X3 is an SUV manufactured by BMW since 2003, based on the BMW 3 Series platform. Now in its fourth generation, BMW markets the car as a Sports Activity Vehicle, the company's proprietary descriptor for its X-line luxury vehicles.
The BMW X4 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by BMW since 2014. The X4 is widely considered as a "coupé" version of the X3, trading its practicality with a sloping rear roof which offers a sportier styling. BMW has indicated 2025 will be the X4's final model year.

To compete with the Audi RS Q5 and Mercedes GLC 55 AMG, BMW is allegedly planning an X3 M based on the next generation midsize SUV. The true M variant would be powered by a 3.0 liter inline-six turbocharged engine delivering close to 500 horsepower.
The G01 X3 will be introduced before the end of 2017 and it’s currently being tested in the Northern parts of Europe.
With the new X1 being larger in size, the new X3 will also grow and strive for a more powerful appearance. Compared to the current model, the 2017 X3 is expected but slim down almost 100 kilograms, thanks to a new rear-wheel drive platform and lightweight materials.
Sources say the front-end present itself flatter, yet beefier than the current model and with a new set of LED headlights. A character line runs from the front wheel arch on both door handles to the rear lights, which – are finally running used full LED technology.
The X3 M – if it comes to market – will sport the typical M design, with an aggressive front fascia including a sculpted bumper and large air curtains, along with flared wheel arches and a lower stance.
The driving dynamics and exterior design have always been a selling point for the X3 family, but the interior somewhat lacked that premium feel many customers requested. BMW seems to have learned a lesson here and the new X3 is likely to be not only technologically advanced, but also more luxurious.
Just like virtually all the other BMW models of the recent past, the third generation of the BMW X3 features a detached infotainment display, which is carried out – most likely – just like thenew 7 Series with a touchscreen. The instrument cluster of the X3 prototypes present a partly digital display.
Overall it can be said that the interior of the BMW X3 G01 is significantly more premium than the current model.

I don't believe that the future X3 M will have 500 hp. They will use this engine? Yes, but less hps. I bet over 440 and no more. I think BMW M wants to keep a important difference between X3 M and X5 M, as they're doing with M3/M4 and M5.

No I reckon it would be 430-450 PS. Its a more adequate ceiling for the X3M & X4M. It also provides breathing space for the X5M and X6M.
And then 330PS for the X1 M.Performance and X2 M.Performance.

It's very coherent. I know they are testing mules from one engine for this X3M from one time ago and I understand they need to keep an important gap between X3M and X4M with X5M and X6M, specially because of they introduce X1M and X2M, the difference has to be, more or less, the same, over 100 ps.
It's obvius that next generation from M3&M4 won't reach 500 ps. So, X3M and X4M won't arrive with more ps. I'm sure too that X3M and X4M will have a bit less that M3 and M4.

The mistake is basing them on the current cars. The new models albeit in prototype phase have more pronounced proportions over the existing models that it is not captured when trying to envision the new model that the product is ill-conceived.

I got it from a French website saying it was the X7. They all look alike in disguise.
But I was also stressing to our Spartanburg spy Palbay that they have airlifted some prototypes to Spartanburg and to be on the look out.
After all he does come through with Spartanburg updates.
