X3/X4 [Official] BMW X3 (G01)

The BMW X3 is an SUV manufactured by BMW since 2003, based on the BMW 3 Series platform. Now in its fourth generation, BMW markets the car as a Sports Activity Vehicle, the company's proprietary descriptor for its X-line luxury vehicles. The BMW X4 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by BMW since 2014. The X4 is widely considered as a "coupé" version of the X3, trading its practicality with a sloping rear roof which offers a sportier styling. BMW has indicated 2025 will be the X4's final model year.
I believe that this is the first time that the "base' M car and competition model is released at the same time, a better strategy for all those who cry foul when the competition is released a couple of month after,

Now twice the choice and a run around the block will not satisfy your choice.

but for sure a run around the block it will satisfy your driving licence :D
and while the unveiling is a questions of hours/minutes, the german gov is debatting to introduce a general speed limit on all german highway

I can't download anymore catalogues from bmw.ch maybe they are updating the data, and catalogues will be soon available. Or I played too much searching the right links on bmw.ch and bmw.de. :D
I confirm BMW Switzerland is upgrading their website. X4 catalog and pricelist in not anymore in their listing. More than that it was one of the last country which still had 2018 documents, where Germany, Belgium and Austria have already pricelist of April 2019.

I'm not going to lie. The M5-esque contours of the front bumper still aren't working for me. Engine specs are somewhat interesting though.

X3M/X4M

155 MPH top speed (electronically limited)
174 MPH top speed (for standard model if optioned with M Driver's Package)
177 MPH top speed (for Competition model if optioned with M Driver's Package)
Why BMW? Top speed should be given to prospective buyers, not another $2,500 USD! Do people become better driver with M Driver's pack? Other BMW model get top speed limit removed when ordering performance tire / non run-flat. Not sure if this only applied to US specs, or also European/Global specs.

F97/F98 need to trim some weight! No CF roof, no CF drive shaft in Competition Pack? CF strut bar should have been extended and replace those two metal one on the two side. Would expect 503hp AWD to run at least faster than 3.5s 0-60 from official number. The front/rear tire would have been nicer in 265 / 295 setup. BMW should have opt for flared F/R fenders on F97/F98.

Patiently waiting for G80/G82 M3/M4 specs to come ...

Yesterday I took my 2016 X3 F25 for a service and ended up placing an order for a G01 :D

I have never factory ordered to I am extremely excited to finalise the spec. The deal is cracking too. No money down and under £500 per month for:

X3 20i M-Sport
Automatic
Alpine White
Adaptive M Suspension
Parking Assistant Plus with Surround View and Powerfolding mirrors

Last year I drove a G01 20d and it did not feel better to drive than my G25. However a G01 30d with adaptive M suspension and Servotonic steering felt like a proper upgrade and won me over.

Build date will be around June/July and I have a couple of weeks to play around with the interior spec.

Shouldn't you wait for the update with Live Cockpit et all?

Either way, congrats of course.

Uhm, 3.5 seconds my friend! In a big SUV! It's crazy fast. Set your expectations to crazy levels an your bound to be disappointed.

Yes it would have been nice to get a facelifted G01 but production for that will like start late autumn 2020. Functionality wise the new instrument cluster isn’t a huge improvement from the digital instrument cluster in the X5 and 5-Series.

Audi’s one is the true live cockpit and doesn’t require the driver to look st the central display at all.

Damn those modern BMWs are unreliable. What broke down that the typical annual service includes buying a new car?

:D
It's the damn EGR. The car was in for a EGR recall fix. A few months ago the EGR was replaced after my 20d automatic occassionally stalled and experienced the odd moment of loss of power.

Congratulations Luw.

You've been quite a proponent for the GLC. Any reason you didn't wait to at least check the FL out?

Thanks!

The finance agreement for my current car ends in spring next year. We wouldn’t be able to live with just one car while we wait 6-7 months for facelift deliveries to start.

Unfortunately the GLC is too boring to drive despite the gorgeous exterior which I prefer to the X3. I have driven the Q5 too and refinement is exceptional and the best car if you want a quiet, comfortable and easy to drive car. It’s a fantastic car to drive but the infotainment is dated.

The clincher is that my partner works for th NHS and gets to buy most bimmers at a 25% discount and without putting down a deposit whilst enjoying low monthly payments. Basically, buying a BMW is a no brainier for us.

Did we consider an X5? Yes. However after hav8ng an F15 as a loaner we discovered that the improved interior cabin over an X5 doesn’t outweigh 60% higher car payment and eye watering fuel consumption, servicing and tyre replacement cost. A well optioned X3 with adaptive dampers just right in size for where we live and has a good balance between handling and comfort.

The 5-Series is the only car I like more but my other half understandably wants an SUV.
