X3/X4 BMW X3 G01 LCi leaked

The BMW X3 is an SUV manufactured by BMW since 2003, based on the BMW 3 Series platform. Now in its fourth generation, BMW markets the car as a Sports Activity Vehicle, the company's proprietary descriptor for its X-line luxury vehicles. The BMW X4 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by BMW since 2014. The X4 is widely considered as a "coupé" version of the X3, trading its practicality with a sloping rear roof which offers a sportier styling. BMW has indicated 2025 will be the X4's final model year.

WTF is this EVEN!?!

The interior is good. It's not going to win any beauty contests, but it modernizes what is already a damn solid and well finished offering.

And this is what happens when you try wedging a completely foreign visual language onto a design that was cohesive and harmonious to begin with. Of course any mid-cycle refresh will potentially suffer from personality disorder by definition; but if done tastefully, it will just gain bits and pieces of updated language while retaining its overall cohesiveness (LCI E39 5er, LCI E90 3er spontaneously come to mind), as in here is how it was supposed to look like to begin with according to design sketches and conceptual ideas had the tech been available earlier or as in here is how it should look with the imperfections ironed out, or it will indeed make a bigger jump to an identity that's new but still perfectly fits within the old framework (thinking of LCI G11 7er rear fascia).

These here however are trying to jam BMW's latest super blunt (bold, BMW would claim) and geometrical design language made of (tri)angles and flat surfaces onto a canvas that was quite conservative and muscular/organic to begin with, i.e. about the exact opposite. Worthy of special mention, the non-M Sport X3's overbite front bumper, the X3M/X4M's forced smile, and the rear bumper smiley face black insert on the X4M/M Sport. Probably the ghastliest BMW LCI ever as far as I'm concerned.

I think it will take some time getting used to new BMW design langage... I am not convinced, but usually in person they look better than in pictures.

One more gripe and this is throughout the BMW range; they need to change their door card designs. They look VERY dated.

In the i4, 4 GC they changed the door handles for those of previous generations, it seems good to me because all brands were adopting the current style of "handle" and it was time to innovate.

The FL design from X3/4 in general is very well achieved in the "base" and in the M, the rectilinear shapes modernized it

Very classy interior. Will she very well. Overall a good facelift.
The interior is a side step. In 6 months it will be outdated as the new generation of BMW interiors will begin to roll out.

Sure the dashboard no longer looks like a facelifted F-Series design but usability has taken small dent.

WTF is going on with those bumpers?

I like M40i and M bumpers. They add presence without being too blunt in their aggression.

As for the tail lights. They are inspired by halo.

The update of the X4 is very good, I can't tell if the bumper is new or just a great shiny black paint job, very well thought out, I did not see photos or videos of the normal X4.
Great sporty stamp

On the contrary, I appreciate it totally updated, well achieved and with a long life ahead, very in line with its most recent brand brothers, it is a lot of work and nothing cheap what they did here, it is the first time (correct me if I'm wrong) that there is such a "deep" change inside an LCI .....

Which ones? Next year the 3-Series. 2 Coupe and grand tourer, IX and facelifted X5 will all move on to new dash board design.

However the updates in the LCI X3 inteior are well executed and it doesn't come across like a Frankenstein hack job.
