F1 2007 Grand Prix du Canada

great pictures, those bolids are really good these days, if that was Indy car he would be dead meat instantly.......

He's UNHARMED
Robert Kubica has escaped injury in his Canadian Grand Prix crash today and will be released from hospital tomorrow, autosport.com has learnt.

The BMW Sauber driver made contact with Toyota's Jarno Trulli on the approach to the hairpin, his car taking off and hitting the concrete wall head-on.

After being airlifted to hospital in Montreal, and with speculations that the 22-year-old may have suffered a broken leg, the team received news that he has likely escaped without injury.

BMW chief Mario Theissen told autosport.com: "We have just go the information from the hospital that he is unhurt.

"He will stay in hospital overnight, but he will be released tomorrow morning."

Theissen said Kubica only lost conscious momentarily when the car came to a halt, following the impact, and the German described his driver's lucky escape as "unbelievable."

However, as for whether or not the Pole will race in next weekend's US Grand Prix, Theissen said it was too early to know.

"This decision will only be taken at Indianapolis," he said. "There will be a medical check, and we'll see then."

Chonkoa, how is losing someone like Raikkonen even considered a loss? If I was a team owner, I'd say good riddance to a car breaking under-performer like him. He was horrible again today. The Canadian coverage said he earns $25 million U.S. to Ralf's 30 mil and Massa's 5 mil. Still, whether he earns 25 or 50 million, Kimi is overrated. He barely staved off one of the Super Best Friends driven by Sato!

IE, are you up for a wager benefiting charity? I wager that BMW will not win a race until the midpoint of the '08 season. That's right. No wins this year and none until nine races into '08. If I lose, I'll donate money to a charity of your choice. There is no way BMW will compete with Mclaren this year.

Yeah, I think Vettel will get the seat. Depending on the severity of Kubica's break, he could be back by the very end of the season.

I will pass on the wager offer for now. After Ferrari, my next team is the BMW Sauber so I would be rooting for them should the Prancing horse disappoint.
I have to say with the rate BMW is improlving, nothing is impossible. art
Today, today was another miserable day to forget as a Ferrari fan, and I am sure Michael will be having a few good laughs.
Now when is Ross Brawn coming back? Hasn't he been gone a 1 year now(6 months seems like a year).

And why do you think Schumi was pushed out?

I think he was pushed out because Ferrari supposedly had an option on Raikkonen for 2007 and Luca D. wanted Kimi in one of his cars. That is how the story goes. You can read about it in more detail below. It is one perspective from one journalist, but some of the points in the article, I heard the same thing on a Canadian telecast after Schumacher announced his retirement.

Sorry if I was being unclear, Chonkoa. My wager offer was to Imhotep Evil. He said that BMW might win a race this year.

I've heard that theory many times from alot of people and sources but I still doubt it.

Just got back home... and what a race! A lot of emotions.

First off, I was seriously troubled after seeing Kubica’s crash… and considering that we were not getting any updates only made it worse. I honestly thought that he might be dead. Luckily I got in touch with my dad and he gave me some good news.

As for the final tally, I am simply overjoyed for Hamilton. Kudos! Albeit the particular circumstances of the race, Alonso had nothing on him. In fact I thought Alonso to be very impatient which forced him to make some seriously stupid passing manoeuvres (3 of which I saw @ corner #1).

And there’s Heidfeld… a great race overall, it showed that BMW has improved and are closer to Ferrari (not McLaren, because they also improved and are further from Ferrari).

Kovalainen was pretty impressive as well. And it was good to see Williams on the podium. I think this might be a good morale boost for both teams.

It was also great to see a Ferrari black flagged… too bad the other red car didn’t have an engine failure or something. Speaking of Kimi… well let’s say he had more luck of finishing 5th than Wurz getting a podium. For all you Kimi fans out there, I feel sorry for you. I’m starting to think he’ll get the boot from Ferrari before the end of the year… hopefully I’m wrong but things aren’t rosy right now.

Another highlight was seeing a Super Aguri passing Ralf’s Toyota for position! I’d be interested to compare both teams’ budgets! :)

Speaking of the Japanese F1 contingency… shame on Toyota & Honda.

Constructors’ standing
6 pts - Toyota
4 pts - Super Aguri-Honda
0 pts - Honda

… it’s laughable. I think it’s time for some Seppuku.

[...] if this continues, I think we'll have more accidents than in a typical Monaco race.

OK, now I have to gloat a little… see my own quote above! :)

I seem to possess some sort of Nostradamus-like powers…. I’ll have to look in to that and play the lottery tonight! ;)

Seppuku? Don't westerners call it hari-kari? Anyway, seppuku is supposed to preserve one's honor with death. Is Honda being irreparably shamed by its Super Best Friends B-Team?

I still want to puke, several hours after the race. With the exception of Senna and maybe Prost, I hate all Mclaren drivers.

Hamilton is at 2.10-to-1 odds to win this year's title. Damn, the odds of him winning a title in 2007 or 2008 were 80-to-1 at the start of the year. He is going to make a lot of people rich, especially himself. Now the odds of him beating 91 wins are down to 20-to-1.

Siko, Kimi will never get booted from Ferrari. I think they let themselves go gaga over his abilities in the first place and he was able to sell himself as a worthy Schumacher replacement. He was crap again today. Overrated and now his title hopes are just plain over! He might as well help Massa, whose own chances are slim.

Never say never... I hear that in Italy he is constantly being slandered by the media and all the Ferrari fan clubs. Plus I've also heard rumours that Todt is supposedly very interested in fellow countryman Sebastien Bourdais... so you never know.

But like I said in my post, I hope I'm wrong as I still like Kimi.

Hara-kiri and Seppuku are synonyms... and it's "supposed to preserve one's honour with death". But in the samurai history, sometimes disgraced samurais were allowed to perform Seppuku to avoid being executed (which is less honourable). As a result, applying this philosophy, many Japanese businessmen did this when their companies failed. In any way I meant it as a joke, not literally… as I would never encourage suicide.

Oh and I'm not entirely a westerner since I was born in Europe ;)

that was one weird race, kinda boring, but i really enjoyed Hamilton's victory, tho i did not enjoy seeing robert's hard crash, anyways its good to know that he is ok with no injuries :) .

btw, 450SEL6.9 u got some seriouse issues man , u dont seem to be a ferrari fan to me, ur just a mclaren Hater/basher .

Wow, what an EVENTFUL race!! Can't understand why some of you thought it was so boring. So many crashes, plenty of passing on the track, and it was indeed amazing to see Lewis Hamilton survive all those Safety Car sessions and keep his cool and not make any mistakes to win his first F1 race.

Alonso, on the other hand made a lot of mistakes. He basically lost the race during the first corner when he let Heidfeld pass him after going into the corner way to fast and wide trying to pass Lewis.

I'm very impressed with Lewis, as he had to rebuild his lead against Heidfeld after every Safety Car session obliterated any lead he had before. I'm also very impressed with McLaren Mercedes team. Their cars are super reliable so far, and they are FAST, both on slow and fast circuits like Monaco and Canada, respectively.

Lewis now leads the driver's champtionship over Alonso by 8 points, and McLaren Mercedes leads the Constructor's Championship by 18 points over Ferrari. It's great being a McLaren Mercedes fan this year....:D

I have to echo everybody else's sentiments: what a crazy race!

I love that BMW is emerging as a contender. I love that Kubica is doing well. I love that the Emperor has no clothes, and it's ovbious to everybody. Kimi and Alonso's stars are fading rapidly and Hamilton is emerging as the new golden child of F1. I love it.

My buddy and I were jumping out of our chairs when Alonso got passed with 3 laps to go. That was some awesome David vs Goliath action.

Massa - Don't bitch. A red light is a red light.

Honda. You guys should probably take notice when one of your cars drives into the pits.

All bets are still off for this season. Although it would only take a few more races like this for Hamilton to nearly seal his DC.

Schu overtook and made up spots in the pits. He didn't pass too many people on track last year. Unless the Ferrari-engined Spykers start crashing into Mclarens starting real soon, Ferrari can start working full time on the '08 car.

You know something man ? U r a disgrace to your own keyboard , what the heck are you talking about ? Are
As of what concerns my thoughts about this race , I found it very interesting , alot of action through out the whole week , the only boring part about it was that the winner was determined since the race started .... Kudos to hamilton , I love this guy , I am happy he made this victory , little by little he is proving to be one of a kind .... He is so athletic and good in every characteristic way .... Well done , same goes to heidfeld , now all he needs to do is hop in one of those Benz's and he will be doing it big ...:D
