Vs W221 S-class vs F01 7-Series vs Lexus LS

The New 7 series is fresh and will probably get notice because of the fact.

The A8 is a wonderful car, but doesn't command your attention.

The LS is nice, but not "serious" luxury.

The S-class is still the king of the full-size luxury segment and the sales will continue to prove that (look at the W220 sales compare to the previous 7 and A8 for proof). The design is so dramatic that it commands everyones attention.

There is nothing on earth like that car, but BMW did do a nice try. Maybe a M7 might prove me wrong.

Well JM thats a pretty wide question. The W221 just happens to be the BEST S-Class EVER!! The interior is very hard to falt with because there are no "rough edges" about the design. It`s been worked out very well.

The Exterior some might not like but remember this S has gotton World awards for it`s design, beating competiton. The quality of the W221 is just outstanding!!!!! I (and I`ll bet you) would have never expected the S-Class
to look so good in the ratings. Beating the competition not only quality reports but apeal standing as well.

The W221 S-Class is going to be very heard to beat, I mean hard!!!
Mercedes isn`t playing games anymore.

I had to sit for a mement and think about what I don`t like about it.
even in standard trim it looks quit good to me. MB really did their homework with the W221 S-Class.

This is not an exciting car, at all. Good car? Yes! Probably the best car. But it is not the prettiest anymore.

The S-class rarely looks good in light colours. Although the front bumpers needs to be revised the car looks fine and pretty in darker colours with the contours all nicely accentuated by light and shadows.

As for the 7er it not very seductive all it, mostly due to the very weak front end bumper design which gives the front end a very soft appearance. Just like the S-class it is in need of a new front bumper.

Most importantly there is nothing about the F01 that makes it way more attractive than the S-class. Sure the rear end is attractive but that's about it, not very exciting if you don't appreciate the E65. The front end is too evolutionary and conservative, and the same applies to the interior which heavily mimics the X5 and 3er. Not much is strikingly new.

My impressions FROM the PICTURES. This may change when I see the car in person, but at first glance I'm not at all impressed by the new 7. The exterior looks utterly boring and predictable, and I find some details like the larger kidneys quite out of place. There is nothing particularly striking about the desing and neither do I think it's conservatively beautiful and elegant The front is bland and the rear is SUV like. Totally unacceptable.

The S-class looks good next to it now. With the FL bumber and new grill Mercedes can be confident in their flagship sedan.

Interior wise this is far too 3-series/X5. The old 7 had a bespoke looking interior. This looks run of this mill and its quite messy. Zen? *Cough Cough*. The S-class is more Zen and beautifully finished with a much cleaner design. So what if its no longer BMW's flagship. It's competing against the A8 and S-class so they should have given it a damn good interior.

I expect we will have to wait for the new A8 to move the game on a bit. Ofcourse these initial impressions may change and I could drool over the car in real life. But the pictures are not impressive in the slightest.

I dont see E90 interior here, you got it all wrong check out X5 or X6 instead and you will find resemblances.

BMW fans bitch when MB fans post a pic of a S class in AMG package or even worse AMG version..
i ask why?
Are they concept cars?
Ppl can buy them..
With mercedes you are given the option to kit out your MB further..
to my knowledge BMW has never done a M package or ANY package at all on the 7er and it looks like they wont this time either..
So who´s fault is that..
Not our, not MB´s.. probably BMW´s.. who think that their 7er in normal guise looks satisfying.. wich it obviously doesent..
cause as soon as its compared to AMG version..ppl start moaning..

Now over to the acutal car..
its nothing.. its just emotionless.. its less than its father ( who atleast provoced feelings).. and all the drum beating has fallen flat..
And the DOS bull crap wich someone pulled here.. obviously also falls flat on its face..
cause so far the tech doesent look to be that advanced either..
i hope they are hiding something.. cause puttin the manual in the idrive doesent cut it..
so far it bring NOTHING new to the table..

When the new S class came..it more or less made the 7er look like horse crap..wich it by the way managed pretty well on its own..
Does this 7er have the same effect on the existing S class?
Probably even in the mind of those who love it to death the answer is NO..

SO i rest my case.. this is day 1 of this cars 6-7 year long life..

Well, here is my opinion from looking at the pics.

The 7er is a step up from the previous 7, but it's still below the S-class. In the side profile pics the 7 does have a sleeker look and manages to look quite a lot better than the S, but that is where it all ends. From there on out the S beats it, IMO, in every other design factor.

Honestly, I was hoping for a game changing looks from the 7, instead we got something too conservative. The most saddening thing is the rear lights. I don't give a sh!t what any BMW fans have to say, but when the LS was introduced it was made fun of. But now the rear design is SO similar to the LS it's not even funny. The squared bootlid, the lights, and even the squared tip exhaust.

No, I'm not saying that BMW copied lexus, what I'm saying is that Lexus must've done something right if designers from both companies came to the same conclusion.

To leave it at that. The S-class still rules this category. Also, like Artist said. Even if the the S looks bland to some, the owners still have the right to add a FACTORY package to upgrade the cars look. And I'm sorry to say but the AMG S-class look byfar destroys any car in it's class by comparison.

BMW 7 Series. Easily. I mean sure the AMG S Class looks great. The standard one is terrible with those disgusting wheel arches. The 7 Series rear lights aren't pretty but they are better then whats on the 7 Series. Atleast they put some effort into the design instead of some stripes.

The MB interior looks quite bland and boring next to the A8 and 7er. It still has great quality and a high esteem of luxury ambience but I prefer the 7er again in this comparision...

ALL MB and all BMW so far have looked below par in intial press release photos. Remember the X6. BMW always release that great set of photos a few weeks later that blow everyones mind. I'll wait for those thanks...

No offense dude, but I stopped reading after this little quibble of yours. Your whole post got thrown in the gutter with this.

Let me address something. You don't like the S-class. Let's just get that clear. The reason I said your post is in the gutter is because you said that the S looks great with the AMG kit but it the standard doesn't look good because of the wheel arches. Umm...AMG kit doesn't get rid of the wheel arches, so how can the car look great? You need to be clear on what you hate about a car. If you hate the wheel arch then you wouldn't like the car with AMG kit because that kit makes them even more pronounced.
