Re: W221 S-class vs F01 7-Series

S-class looks older and slower, bmw flows better, less angled contour

Re: W221 S-class vs F01 7-Series

The S class looks great in those publicity shots ...its a pity it often looks so bland on the road.

Overall, I like the 7er's exterior design ...but prefer the S class interior.

Re: W221 S-class vs F01 7-Series

I will let you know on Monday when we will se highres photos and more detailed pictures. Hard to compare based on small photos IMO and a 5 minutes glance.

Re: W221 S-class vs F01 7-Series

the 7er interior design at the level of the instrument binnacle and the lack of a second hump makes it a much more fluent design
the S class double hump attempt is not particularly flattering
plus this is an extremely "correct" photo of an S interior, i have yet to see one like it in real life :D

Re: W221 S-class vs F01 7-Series

It's interesting how BMW have switched over to a "T" interior with the buttons and wood panel stretching down all the way down the armrest just like the Audi A8. Very cockpit inspired and we've all seen that Porsche will be going down the same route with the Panamera, leaving the S-class as the lonely bird with a different layout sporting a few visible buttons.

Re: W221 S-class vs F01 7-Series

When I see the BMW in real life I can make a decision. :usa7uh:

Where's Audi A8? :D

The reason why I decided not to add it is because it's an old car compared with the 7er, S and LS. Although a successor is due next year it can obviously still be discussed because after all it's not a relic.

I strongly dissagree, they have filled the area between the dash and the gearleaver up with more wood in this generation 7 series, but saying the layout has changed is overstating a lot. The area is risen but has almost no buttons and the gearleaver is or should I say is once again where it was before.

Hassan, please... You very well know what is forbidden - 7er vs. S class vs.... stuff! You're sure welcome to voice your opinion!

Please, there IS a freedom of speech!

hwy can anyone upload pics off current 7 and the new one next to each other front rear side and interir

Re: W221 S-class vs F01 7-Series

The rear end of the 7er will have a very phat and powerful appearance reminiscent of the Lexus LS thanks to a boxy rear end design coupled with huge tail lights. Will look very nice in real life.

One aspect of the car I don't like is the front end, too similar to the E65 which is a car I dislike a lot. So I'm disappointed that BMW didn't choose to distance themselves from it even more. The front end is too soft and anonymous making it non-compatible with the very dynamic looking rear end.

True, no raising of the far end of the seat divider has been done, but the cup holders have been concealed by the lid or moved creating the visual impression of a space shuttle cockpit like the Panamera and A8.

I know but no body had even compared it with the S-class and anyway. All that was voiced was constructive and analytical opinion about the F01.

Man the tail lights of the 7er looks too much like the LS:eusa_doh:

Anyway from the pics only i pick the S for sure.

Looking forward to see the car in real and i hope i change my mind.

Some started to compare, some were pissed about it and i wanted it to stop, OK?

Now, they have your thread for that.

OK so we've pretty much seen the new 7er. Good car. Good looking (generally). BUT, all initial speculation about making the S Class look like DOS are unfortunately wrong. And thats not in criticism to the 7er, its the quality of the S class. Even pre facelift i think the S holds its own very well. Without wanting to get dramatic, i can understand the excitement that followed the coming of the 7er. And wow, it's really quite good. But nothing, and i mean NOTHING can make this look like DOS
