6 Series The BMW Concept 6 Series Coupé

The BMW 6 Series is a range of grand tourers produced by BMW since 1976. Successor to the E9 Coupé.
1M Coupe and the next M6 Coupe. Will bring some new visual ideas to the typical M aerodynamics. Key to this is the appearance of the 6er Coupe Concept which showcases how the edgier shark-like appearance is going to mean something more dramatic for the M6 Coupe.

See Jon Sibal's rendering for a look into how the car will progress.
M6 Coupe will be the flagship M car (Until the Gran Coupe, of course.)

Why will the Gran Coupe be above the Coupe? It´s just the same with two additional doors, and the BMWs Coupes use to be more expensive thna the equivalent sedans, so...

Wow, vast improvements indeed!
This new version is very beautiful. With all the newer BMW models coming out, the line between my favorite German make is starting to grow very thin. Im becoming more of a German car fan than just a single brand fan.

This is awesome!

The BMW Concept 6er Coupe will be on show in the main concourse of the BMW Welt until mid-November, after that the car will head to the LA Autoshow with the production car debuting (not in LA) through the duration of the show.

Damn, BMW are still printing out large graphics... you'd think they'd have a large digital screen where they could simply drag-n-drop each wheel (or headlight or tail light or front/rear bumper) design to compare and contrast.

Ah well... the first wheel design looks good. The second and third don't appeal to me at all...and the final one of course we've seen before.

^^^digital screens cost a lot of money,,,,,they are counting the beans,,,,,so then they can pass the savings on to us !!! (Sit down while you wait!!!)

think about it - screens aren't the optimal way to present a design
blacks are never blacks and highlights are always very prominent

These make me think the aftermarket in wheels that fit will be active. Too ornate, too heavy looking from these renderings [admittedly may look different on the car], not to mention as has already been observed, these designs look like a real pain in the arse to clean properly.

I am hoping for something simpler, less ornate, sleeker, there was a 5 spoke beauty that came out on later years of the 650i that was handsome...I can't remember the number, that would be perfect on the new car.

The designers have had the benefit of being close to mock-ups of the car for years now, but styles 313, 167 [M], or 184 would all seem to me to compliment the new body better than these ornate, heavy looking choices. Perhaps this will be different once I have seen the car in the metal.

Bmw style 313 wheels are my choice also! Simple,,,elegant,,,,light weight,,,,easy to clean,,,,and just plain, stunning!! Seems only problem with them is availability only in 19".
So much for tire durability on 19" rims(12k miles on my last ones!!)!!!! Potholes feel like craters! Gotta wait till they come up with 18 inchers!

^^^ IMO 19" is the minimum size for the new 6er. 18" simply is too small...

I want to actually "Drive" my new 6er around (on real life roads, with real life potholes), not keep it in the driveway just to show freinds!:D
I know 19" looks fine, but tires and ride comfort say otherwise!!:t-drive:

You're both right!

On my 645Ci, although I was tempted to go with the 19" wheels, I stayed with 18" and was glad I did. I lived in New Orleans at the time, and street surfaces in town and on nearby interstates are somewhat punishing. Those with 19" wheels actually had wheel breakage and tire failures at a much higher rate according to the dealer.

To Klier's point, though, I think the new design demands at least a 19" wheel, and an 18" might look downright puny on this body.

Without seeing the car in the metal, it is hard to determine, but the proportions in the photos would seem to make 19" the new standard. Some will no doubt mount 20+s if they can, and discover at some point they have sacrificed ride for appearance and durability.

The ruffly, intricate, hyper-angular wheels the pictures suggest BMW is going to deliver on the car do not seem to flatter the design at all.
