6 Series The BMW Concept 6 Series Coupé

The BMW 6 Series is a range of grand tourers produced by BMW since 1976. Successor to the E9 Coupé.
So again, why a "concept" so close to launch?

BTW allenwalker, a year is too close to be showing a concept (for the first time) in my view. Perhaps it is to steal some thunder from the new CLS.:eusa_thin

That has been discussed, It is a US schedule.
Here's the production schedule (which should apply to Europe as well):

MY 2012:

March 2011 - 650cv
July 2011 - 650cp
September 2011 - 640cp/cv
September 2011 - 650xi cp/cv

'cv' apparently stands for convertible and 'cp' stands for coupe.

I have to admit at first I was not too impressed, having seen the new set of pictures, especially the side profile. I think it is plain stunning in a classic way and I am glad BMW have gone the way of Audi with simple well constructed lines, like most I think the front is is the only area that needs a little attention. Otherwise stunning - best looking BMW.

I keep going back and forth to this thread, I can't help thinking this is the prettiest BMW currently. I still want the GC , in white with the above leather combination :)

As I predicted, this is much nicer than the GC, two doors every day, it´s so much nicer, more sharky.

I hope BMW makes the GC a bit different, as after this they need something huge to impress.

Damn, no diesel come September 2011? I'm seriously considering this car but probably prefer it in diesel form as the perfect car for crossing continents.

I would also guess the M Sport package will come in September 2011 if the schedule for the F10 is followed, and it seems to be doing that so far.

The guy who posted this is from the USA, so the SOPs for Diesels not making it to the USA might be left out.

Because the best selling 6er model in the current/outgoing E63/E64 is the 635d which accounts for 70% of overall sales , there is greater emphasis to have the 640d available as soon as possible.

The 6er is the only large Coupe that has a diesel engine.
And I do not think the updated CL has been given one? so that it will remain so.

The reason why that list is more likely for the US is it's reverse logic - and the non-inclusion of the 640d. The X3 dates are also for the US.
The X3 arrives in the European market this November.

A 300 hp 640d F13 coupé sounds pretty fantastic.

As Betty said, the perfect car to cross a continent.

I'm back into this thread only today again... been a while since seeing the 6er Concept.

I just have to say, a couple of days on and this thing looks even better. It's such a great BMW; the overall silhouette, the surfacing, the detail style elements, the proportions - for a car in this segment, at this price point, it's just spot on. What a classy continent crusher. Oh, to be properly wealthy...

Grace, Pace and a little less Space is what defines a real grand tourer and this fits the bill perfectly. So, to those wonderful marketing buffs at BMW (not!) : this is what a proper GT looks like! Pity you've gone and wasted that evocative title on a less deserving model.

Now, the pertinent question: two doors or foor doors?

I couldn't agree more. :usa7uh:

As to doorcount, thank you, BMW, for the choice; more people will be happy with their new cars, and you will sell more cars, at those lofty coupe profit margins...

For me, a real coupe, 2 doors, great lines, a car that begs for the open road even when you are just going home from work. And this new 6er coupe does that!!

I can't wait! Maybe my last gasoline vehicle...but this one will be a gas--gas--gas!

The more I look at this concept, the more I appreciate it. Should look phenomenal in the metal. Strange, I like this concept much more than the Gran Coupe, maybe it's just that this design is perfect with 2 doors?:t-hands:

Same here.

The 4-door looks too much like a sedan. The 2-door looks like a proper coupe.

^^^ Like, too good to be true. I had to punch myself to be sure I wasn't dreaming!!

From around 1:01 to 1:03, you can really see how very driver oriented the screen is! Damn.

Every 2 door looks better than it's 4 door counterpart. Can't think of an exception really.
