GLC [Spyshots] Spy Photos 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLC (AKA GLK)

The Mercedes-Benz GLC is a compact luxury crossover SUV introduced in 2015 for the 2016 model year that replaced the GLK-Class. According to Mercedes-Benz, it is the SUV equivalent to the C-Class.
I dunno, it has lost the SUV look. This is now a crossover/wagon looking thing. Pass.

Totally agree, MB's current design language does not work well on SUVs, plus applying the same design on every model line up doesn't help either.

Seems larger, nearly as long as the red GLE/M-Class behind it. (y)

Thanks Wolfgang, as not many have caught that, considering that I just answered a question for someone on WCF about the red prototype. The GLC although much more organic looking than the GLK, looks decent. I just wish they would be more creative, than resorting to the same horizontal taillights.

I know that MB has been stuck on the V-boot style rears and triangular taillights since the W124 (1981), but it doesn't mean the same application from the S205 and C217 works everywhere. I figure that AMG models will provide a more aggressive appearance, as it looks a bit "soft".

The X204 facelift hinted at a softer design and all of us know by now, that Wagener has been on a "softening" streak since taking lead in June 2008. Especially as soon as Pfeiffer's designs were no longer in his department and "correctable" via expensive face-lifts (GLK, W212, W166, R231, R172). How did he persuade the board/Dr. Zetsche on that front, as it's more than a coincidence with some of the expensive changes occurring mid-cycle and they are very much design-related.

I wonder when we will start seeing mules in W166 bodies for the next generation GLE? I'll address that elsewhere, so I don't go off-topic.

I assumed that was real, but the numberplate is strange as it has the "ML" letters.

I love it anyway. If it is real then it's the nicest SUV in the MB line up.

I personally think the GLC needed to go towards the crossover look to make room for the baby G-wagen that's supposed to be coming.

Not sure has this post before, but this looks actual to me compared to the test vehicle.

Very nice indeed. The big BUT here is how close all MBs look now. But I have to say I like how this car looks much better than both the X3 and Q5.

What happened to that sketch a couple of years ago which showed three different types of MB interiors? One for roadsters like the SL and SLK. One for SUVs like the GL and ML. And the other for regular cars like C-Class and E-Class.

Disappointing to see the C-Class dash copy-pasted into the GLC.
a) It's not visually suited to an SUV
b) both of its Teutonic competitors get their own interiors differentiated from their platform donors

I'm actually very OK with this. Mercedes is clearly creating families which is reflected in the naming scheme. That's also why the GLC looks so similar to the C-class wagon. It's a different approach for sure but it makes sense.

I guess we're seeing the fruits of Gorden Wagener's influence.

The reports say the IAA in Frankfurt this September.
But I wonder if the GLC will premiere in Shanghai in April. The GLK was launched in Shanghai.

Interesting. I always thought that a strong selling point for the GLK was its squared off Jeep-ish stance. A little mini G class. The replacement appears to be nothing more than a jacked up C estate
