I've noticed a lot of luxury hotel in Germany have the new 7 Series to transport their guests. I guess they get these at a fairly discounted rate ? The last place I stayed at had two of them.

Of course, otherwise they would have chosen the spectacular S class.

I hope that is the case as I don't want to see a 4 cylinder s class

You must have been looking another way when the W221 S 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY (love the utterly crazy names MB comes up with, btw) launched close to a decade ago?

I guess Scott is occasionally right at time , he did say the 7 series outsells the S class in Germany . Interesting that the Germans prefer the 7er .

LOL. No doubt the Germans are acutely aware a FL S-class looms. They are watching and waiting. Just watch this one set new sales benchmarks which I doubt even the new A8 will manage to tarnish outside of the German market (as the Germans do seem to have a thing for the A8).

Go to the sales thread with these assumptions, please

1st: @Jimmy was talking about one (!) month, march. You can hardly call that outselling, can you?
2nd: BMW is very, very generous with it's discount. One can easily save € 20.000-€ 25.000 for more or less equally speced S-klasse-7er (in Germany).

The insecurity is staggering. Seriously.

Nobody yet commented on the new grille? Like it, very nice reference, very cool stylistic knack. Maybe even a little controversial in the end.

Do you really think Mercedes doesn't know which market truly butters its S-class bread? There's a reason its launching in China and not New York.

So, why would they tease it NY? I'm sure it will be at the auto show, shown to a select few.

Yes, because models like the BMW X5 40e iPerformance just positively roll off the tongue. ;):p

NYC is a very important market, apparently just not the most important one.

Look at the Shanghai Auto China as the Chinese IAA. You have to walk for miles between halls and foreign manufacturers invest in huge displays because the halls are absolutely huge with the domestics following IAA BMW and Mercedes-Benz with their own halls.
This is not possible in NYIAS as you are allocated substantial space and there is barely room to swing a cat.
Launching the S-Klasse MOPF in Shanghai is logistically better for Mercedes-Benz as China is primarily the S-Klasse's market.

The grill and Sport Package look huge in the video.
I cannot wait for the live pics. I think it will look great with a new level of sport added to the design work.

Earlier, I was guided to a "secret" location where I was saw the mopf S. MB invited select S-class owners and previous S-Class owners. The new front is quite lean and imposing with the triple slim LED DRL and now standard Maybach grille, the sport bumper is more homogenous with the E-Class sport packet.

Personally, I thought the prefacelift AMG front was perfectly executed... still looked good when I walked outside and immediately saw two prefacelifts with AMG pack. The interior aside from the new infotainment is essentially the same. Still the nicest and most comfortable interior in the segment.

I still can't see any difference in design and size of the new grill compare to the pre face lift one.

Lots of people complained about its location. They just couldn't find it without looking for it. Not to mention the adjustment for distance on its tip.
interesting how they changed the design in w222 that has roots from w126! Then they find new complaints poured in and change again
they should have studied what happened with the "New Coke".
