I'll miss the classy two spoke steering wheel..Why change it,it's style suits the overall cabin's style very well IMO.

I'll admit, initially when the two-spoke steering wheel came out, I thought it was a joke, but it does a sense of occasion. I hope that while the features are updated, that it still retains the two-spoke appearance.

Some models (i'm assuming euro spec) already have the three spoke steering wheel but I hope that they keep the two spoke, it has such a uniqueness to it that doesn't fit with the rest of the lineup. Im excited for freestanding screen though

The only thing I don't like in this car is this:

The graphic. Not the quality of it, but the design. It looks a lil bit simple and cheap. Hope, they will imrove it.. Maybe need to give a deeper looks or smth..

Nothing wrong with preparing for it early

Forget the new headlights, grille, dash and steering wheel. Just reconfigure the provision in the trunk to accommodate a spare tire and kit similar to the W221. Run flats should be optional - not standard equipment.

It would be nice if MB would improve the quality of the buttons and other simulated metal-like parts inside the cabin. I took a look at the interior of the new 7, and it appears they are using metal for the buttons and switches. I could only see from the outside and of course could not touch or feel then buttons and switches, but they look very nice.

So far, the two-spoke steering wheel is the standard wheel, if you switch to three-spoke you'll be going all leather no wood/leather combo on the three-spoke.

The dashboards of test vehicles are equipped with parts from various models - the real testing of the finished interior design goes on 'inside the house'. The W 222 Facelift, and that is confirmed by a trustworthy collaborator of mine, will soldier on with the current steering wheel variants:

- for the non Mercedes-AMG and non AMG Line models: the two-spoke steering wheel, which comes in leather combo as standard and leather/wood combo as an option, with the specific lettering "Mercedes-Benz"
- for the AMG Line and Mercedes-AMG models: the three-spoke steering wheel in leather combo as standard and leather/wood combo as an option, as well as specific lettering (for the S 63 and S 65 - "AMG", for the AMG Line models - "Mercedes-Benz")

Mercedes-Benz dashboard commands are carved in metal since the W 221 S-Class generation and this does also apply the W 222 generation as well, so what you say doesn't hold true.

I wonder what kind of changes will this have on the coupe and cabriolet.
There are also (fanboy) rumors about full autonomous driving before the next generation S.

I will say this. The S Class is beautiful, but the door panels, despite being covered in leather and wood, have a certain hollow feel to them. They don't give this sense of solidity. You push on them and they flex. My CLA doesn't flex like that...

Maybe its the aluminum structure, since aluminum is light weight the feeling of solidity may be compromised but I didn't notice it when we had a S550 loaner

Not always. When car producer is testing with mules, dashboards uses to be equipped as you tell, but with prototypes not. Cars have all the new equipment to check if work correctly in all types of cincunstances. Tester drivers cannot test "inside the house" if one dashboard, as this one of S-Class, works perfectly driving very fast over one road with a lot of bigs rocks, for example.
