Indeed I was wrong! Great, the car looks like the Concept and actually very nice, just as the Concept. I like it on the outside.

The cabin, now unfortunately is just as cheap and nasty as the A's, what a shame! M-B could have made a tad more effort and give it more premium. But I think I have figured it all out, forget the Badge, Three pointed Star on Trucks and Vans also. And I guess the Daimler Board just see the A&B Series \ FWD cars as their non-premium entry level of offerings and Premium starts with a capital "C" at M-B. Well thinking like that makes me feel better anyway;):D

Orders start in late November, deliveries early next year

Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the 2014 GLA, ahead of the car's public debut scheduled for September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Looking just like we expected, the GLA is a high-riding A-Class with a more muscular body, bigger alloys, roof rails, a dual exhaust arrangement, tailgate-mounted spoiler and an almost identical interior cabin. The compact crossover is 4417mm long, 1804mm wide, 1,494mm tall and has a drag coefficient of 0.29. It has a cargo space of 421 liters with the rear seats up and 836 liters once you fold them down. Interestingly, the German marque is offering an optional Load Compartment package which increases the load area by 60 liters without having to fold the rear seats. This is possible by moving the backrest of the rear seat unit to a steeper position, granting a cargo space of 481 liters with the rear seats up.
Gasoline engines include a 1.6-liter with 156 HP (115 kW) in the GLA 200 and a 2.0-liter with 211 HP (155 kW) in the GLA 250 which has a fuel consumption of 7.1 liters / 100 km (33.1 mpg US or 39.7 mpg UK). On the diesel side, the GLA 200 CDI gets a 2.2-liter delivering 136 HP (100 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) and consumes 4.3 liters / 100 km (54.7 mpg US or 65.6 mpg UK), while the GLA 220 CDI has a 2.2-liter with 170 HP (125 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft).
The GLA 250 equipped with 4MATIC will do 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 145 mph (233 km/h). The optional all-wheel drive arrangement is also offered for the GLA 220 CDI and both models benefit from a Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR) system and an off-road transmission mode.
Order books will open in UK at the end of November, with deliveries commencing early next year.
Further details can be accessed from the attached press release.

Where is the OFFICIAL: Mercedes-Benz GLA thread?

Anyways. I like it so much more then the A-class. This styling really fits this kind of a car. The only thing I dislike, is the HUGE tail lights. Other then that, this car will sell like butter. After the so and so A-Class, and the ugly CLA, they really nailed it here.

Decent. Seems it's turned out fine as the initial spy pics were worrying. That said, why are all these pics still in the 'GLA spy thread'?

Agreed on everything :D

This looks better than expected, and we need an official thread ASAP!!

Edit; and it's funny, we're all complaining for an official thread where each and every one of us could have made it :D

Edit 2; but where? The admin has to create a proper GLA section first! I will make an official thread, and post it in the A class/CLA section for now!
