aren't you pretty :D

If I'm not mistaking, the next car that's gonna be presented in this segment will be the Tiguan (?)

Tiguan would be... ummm, in the absence of better expression, from the class above. Tiguan, CX-5, X3, GLK, Q5 would all be the part of the same segment.

Oooook.

I thought you were saying the second most beautiful car of the segment was the FL Tiguan.

Maybe you should start a diary/personal blog.

My question still stands (and You either ignored it, or don't want to respond to it): So what if X1 is based on E91? That doesn't make it a car from the class above. Consider this: if the 5 Series is made on a 7 Series platform, is 5 Series class above the E Class? Or, since 7 shares its platform with 5 series, is an S Class above 7 Series?

X1 and GLA are in the same segment, have pretty much similar dimensions, price... I don't really see why would it be considered from class above, especially since there already is "3 Series Crossover", called the X3 (which, to be fair, is somewhere between the SUV and Crossover).

I already have a diary/personal blog. It's called The Bible :D

I'll put it simple for you:
X3 - SAV
X1 - Crossover SAV
They are both in the 3-Series segment.
The X1 isn't the SAV version of the 1-Series unlike the GLA and Q3. You might also think that the CLA is in the same class as the 3-Series, the E-Class Coupe in the same class as the 6-Series and so on.
The price and naming of the X1 might fool you. I can understand that.

Tiguan is the car that underpins the Q3, not the Q5. so it is the same class as the GLA/X1 :)

It goes:
Tiguan/GLA/X1/Q3
-/GLK/X3/Q5
Touareg/ML/X5/Q7

I thought you were saying the second most beautiful car of the segment was the FL Tiguan.
well then I understand the face you posted :D

Please, other forumers don´t find particulary interesting to read your bitching post against MB fans.

I remember you were a nice member, why this change for the worse?

There was a debate which went from something to "in your dreams". I do all my best to keep it civilized and mature but... I'm a person too... :)
I don't know. Many things are for the worse now...

@mini_cooper4

Clearly, you interpreted in in the wrong way: personally. That statement was not personal, and I had no intention to insult you. I hope that You will accept my apology.

From my later posts it should be clear why I said it, and since you ignored my questions, I'll have to raise them again:

1. Considering the underpinnings of the 5 Series, is it in the class above the E Class? YES or NO?
2. Do BMW X1 and M-B GLA have ~ same dimensions, price, and are they competing in the same segment?

The underpinnings don't necessarily make one car class above/below.
Also, I never said CLA is a 3 Series competitor, I don't see why you bring that up. Nor I said E Coupe is competitor to the 6 Series. [Just out of curiousity, CLA is supposed to be competitor to the 2 Series GC (if they make it), which will also have underpinnings from the 3 Series. Will You say again that 2 GC is from the class above CLA because of that?]

@7sean

And the Tiguan is based on VW Golf. Does that make it Golf/Focus/Astra competitor? Also, you somehow forgot to say which segment does CX-5 belong to. What about Ford Kuga? Don't confuse underpinnings with segmentation.

@W201 No need for apology. You are being polite and I don't have nothing against you.
The problem is that "in your dreams" ruined the whole debate in which my point was that the X1 is competing against the GLA and Q3 only because it's priced similarly. I gave an example with the CLA and 3-Series because they are cars competing against each other as they are also priced similarly in some markets but the 3-Series is still a class above. I do think that's the case with the X1 too. :)

Overall, I think is nice vehicle and by far the best of the A/B/CLA bunch, but I just wished a bit less "raised hatchback" look and more SUV. Still, I think Mervedes has a winner here.

Lol this is a JOKE! The headlights look almost like the brand new w222's lights, which are Big, Ugly and boring, btw. SL,S and now the GLA.. They all look the same. *uck u mercedes...U have no individuality. Like the bmws, audis.. I just hope it wont happen to the brand new s coupe, which i want to buy. If the upcoming s coupe gets the same front, i wont buy that.Furthermore, i will never ever look at the benz again...
Thats why i like the American cars. Yes, they are cheap, but at least they are not similar to each other... They have the individuality.
As ive said, i hope that the cl's front will be special, and not similar to the s, gla, and s...

Well I guess if the US has to suffer without the A class we can settle for thousands of little GLAs running about. It's going to be a hit.

The interior is pretty but I'm not sure the quality is going to be very high from the pics.

WOW. I was not expecting this at all! I know that's probably the highest spec available, but still! Does justice to its concept.

Hmmm..
Ok I'm gonna have to wait until the pictures of the standard package come out, because I'm not feeling the AMG Package at all.
It doesn't seem to have enough ground clearance which is a problem that almost all cars in this segment have, but I guess Mercedes' attempt to make it extra sporty ended up making the car look more heavy that it supposed to appear. There is something wrong about the proportions of the front. The grill seems to be too low for such a car and the angle of the lights and their incilnation towards the grill, give the impression of a melting front - a problem that exists in a far less severe manner in the new S-class. Less severe because of the position of the grill. The AMG package is too "car-like" rather than "SUV-like" which leads to making it look like a heavier A-class with some ground clearance, but not enough for it to be called an SUV. The standard package might have something to save the proportions. The brown car with the open doors already indicates a better looking rear.

As for today, this is the best looking offer in the segment. Next up: the new VW Tiguan.

I have to agree with you, apart from the ground clearance. I doubt anyone would buy a GLA, or an X1 or Q3 for off-road use!

Other than that, even though I don't completely understand the design, as I feel the front to look like a 1.2*A-Class, while the rear looks much more muscular and aggressive, almost like a new Cayenne, it's quite nice.

On the other hand, this bold design is vastly different from the "same sausage, different lengths" X1 and Q3, making it the most exciting offering in the segment so far.

Personally, I find this type of vehicles, urban SUVs, useless, but some of them do look good! The GLA looks, so far, the best.

Certainly not going to be anything that even slightly resembles the concept (except the badge). Where did M-B learn that from, I wonder:whistle:

Oh yes now I remember! The three-letter word. You OEM's should stop influencing each other:rolleyes: @SCOTT27

Don't you look pretty stupid now?

PS
That is one DAMN good looking little SUV, this thing will sell like crazy.
I love the muscular appearance, easily the best looking car in its segment.

PPS
The low end expansion of Mercedes is really working out:)
I wonder what the high end expansion will bring:D
