This is just getting stupid. There are plenty of reports of the car being revealed in the fall. Let stop all the back and forth. If the car doesn't show up at that time, then we can assume a 2013 date.

The only possible March 2013 debut this car will have is the commencement of U.S. sales. Since 1972, the only S-Class that debuted at Geneva to my knowledge was the W140 in March 1991, and that was only because it was delayed from its original scheduled Frankfurt Motor Show debut in September 1989. Pretty much development has been on schedule since then, therefore the same pattern held up for the W220 and W221. The same will apply here unless unforeseen delays occur.

There's no way that Daimler will debut at the same year the A-Class, the GL-Class, the SL-Class and now also the S-Class.
No way! I'm sure the debut will me in March at the Genf show as the W140 was. I think it would be too beautyful to be true to see it this year alredy..

Based on amount of camouflage left is on a latest spy shots there will be no way Mercedes would show car this much if it was 9 months away to be unveiled. W221 was unveiled only couple months after last generation CLS was and months ahead of GL, so w222 is nearly overdue. Mercedes has a lot of product to show in next two years, so I don't think slow selling SL and cheap A class will stop them from showing S class this year.

There is a difference between internet reveal, premiere and sale launch. Internet Reveal could be in November 2012, World Premiere in January 2013 and European Premiere in March 2013 with Launch in April 2013.

it almost bound 2013 premiere, as daimler has said nothing about plans to premiere this year in the 'products of 2012' section in official documents or press functions, it would make sense for next year premiere, but it would make a break as the only mercedes in a long time to put a stop to the 7 year cycle as this would be an 8 year cycle for current model, which is a bit strange.

This Sept is the 7 year mark so I'm sticking with that. I don't see the S being put off another 9 months.

I wonder if the 4.7L V8 will get a boost to like 450hp to combat the BMW V8's 445hp? I'm going to really pass out if they debut a 9-speed transmission and that magic suspension stuff.

Today could be the day actually. The W221 debuted on a Monday, so maybe it will again. It's almost the 3rd anniversary of this thread starting, so hopefully it won't reach that date and be before July 5th.

I was the one who said car will be out before 5th July, I guess I've been absolutely wrong. Deep apologies, but believe me I was told by my regional Mercedes Director. My last message to him was in 4th Week of June, where again he was pretty sure of it, of course he was wrong and so was I. Once again deep apologies for mis leading.

Not that it matters but during the Euro he was talking about them launching after the Euro as it would take the lime light away and generate little hype. I assume if those things do matter they will need to launch it before the Olympics right? Assuming events like this matter then if we do not see it before the Olympics then I suppose only after the Olympics? (Do remember these are my assumptions)

I'm also told photoshoot etc. is all over, again something I can't verify as I've not exactly been correct before.

There is nothing wrong in being mistaken. Plans can change. Maybe they wantes to reveal the new S Class if Germany would win the Euro. I doubt they would reveal the S Class at the Olympics, as BMW has their fleet there. I'd say towards the end of the year.

In my case the reason is realy simple:
If the car will debut in March 2013 than i will probably must buy an used 2009 W221 (which i like a lot, exapt od the middle tunel console in the cockpit which is ugly as hell) for this half year - in the case that it will debut in 2012 september, i will wait till then and immediately buy the W222 and jump over the W221.

But as i said, the last AutoMotorUndSport, the last AutoBild and also the last MercedesPassion magazine had write down that it will be in 2013....so...damm!...
