S-Class W222 [Spyshots] Mercedes-Benz 2014 W222 S-Class (Spy pics & info)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class produced from 2013 to 2020, serving as the successor to the W221 S-Class and predecessor to the W223 S-Class. The W222 has a similar design theme to the C-Class (W205) and E-Class (W213).

Yes but what is it exactly, can't get a bloody clue, do you need a smartphone to use it.
I mean it clearly isn't your ordinary speed and distance HUD.

And THIS EXACT system AS JUST SHOWN will be used on the SL, when exactly.

:confused::confused::confused:

From what I understand, the W222 could get what is shown in the CES video quoted by me. Rumours about a completely new interior leave a good deal of room for this new tech.

The SL should get what is shown here by MBUSA, originally posted by Wolfgang: Mercedes-Benz mbrace2 Technology | Mercedes-Benz

According to MBUSA's videos, you'll need a smartphone to have internet access.

Just what I need. An excuse for using my hands for something other than holding the steering wheel. Captain John Anderton strongly approves.

But you won't need it for the speedo or distance thingy.
I like this system, but I'm a bit old-fashioned when it comes to smartphones etc. I don't get the point of the damn things.
Speedo, HUD and a bit of interesting places and stuff is awesome enough for me:usa7uh:

^ Shining Star posted this a while back. :)

I don't think it's coming to Geneva. Remember that the S hasn't entered the FEP stage yet, and a good rule of thumb for Mercedes is that a model tends to premiere about a year after the first FEP shots.

Also, Mercedes has a lot on its plate at the beginning of next year. The new SL will be launched in Detroit 2012, so the european premiere will be at Geneva. The new A-Class will also be unveiled in Geneva. So I think Mercedes will make Geneva solely an A-Class event. As for the S-Class, perhaps we'll see pictures in summer 2012, with the reveal at Paris. Another option is an independent off-site unveiling, which certainly seems feasible.

A less likely possibility is a Beijing 2012 reveal, as China is a large market for the S-Class.

I knew it. It was in bad taste and inappropriate, not to mention, just not in touch. Sometimes I wonder how these Marketers get their jobs for these huge historical companies. Che belongs in shock-art for Musicians, M-B shoulda known the backlash they'd get. Not to mention, I wonder if they really know who Che is if they used him for such a thing.

About the Tom Cruise hand-motion W222 windscreen thing.... I'll have to see it to believe it. Also, talk about an INSANE driving distraction. Not to mention, all the people in W222's who will look crazy to the outside world as they have their hands around while stopped or driving. :D

I believe we will see the FEP pictures sometime in February next month, and the revealing photos in August, while the presentation of the car officially in Paris 2012 in September-Octomber with sales starting in January 2013.

CNN on augmented reality windshields. ;)

'Augmented-reality' windshields and the future of driving

Las Vegas (CNN) -- Imagine a future in which icons flash on your car windshield, hologram style, as your car approaches restaurants, stores, historic landmarks or the homes of friends.

Simply point your hand at them, and the icons open to show real-time information: when that bridge over there was built, what band is playing at that nightclub on the left, whether that new café up the street has any tables available. Wave your hand again, and you've made a restaurant reservation.

Mercedes-Benz showed off this vision of the future of driving -- complete with augmented-reality and gesture-controlled features -- this week at the International Consumer Electronics Show.

CES is the world's biggest technology trade show, and carmakers are becoming a bigger presence here. Visitors climbed into a little cockpit at the Mercedes booth and took a brief, interactive and virtual ride through nighttime San Francisco -- with the high-tech windshield as a guide.

If so and the car looks good... in 2013 there will be a complete change of my garage :)

I always love when people can buy so fast a new launched car. S classes are always supreme in all ways, when you enter in a S class and close the doors, inside of it you find another world, and you don`t care about anything. All your worries and problems dissapear inside of it. That`s the power of the S class.
