S-Class W222 [Spyshots] Mercedes-Benz 2014 W222 S-Class (Spy pics & info)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class produced from 2013 to 2020, serving as the successor to the W221 S-Class and predecessor to the W223 S-Class. The W222 has a similar design theme to the C-Class (W205) and E-Class (W213).

As far as I can see, the only advantage the Rolls has, is the fact that is is bigger.

Apart from that the S-Class wins.
The Bentley is cool too:eusa_doh:

I was just wondering, a lot of people keep saying it will be introduced somewhere 'round sept (Paris or Frankfurt) and they start selling it in Dec '12 or Jan '13.
BUT they already prepared the Sindelfingen plant to produce the S-Class during the Christmas season.
Don't you think it's a bit overdone the prepare a plant but decide to start selling in roughly 10 to 12 months later.

A bit weird don't you think.
BTW as someone else mentioned I think it will be a lot harder to spot one of these car, it must have already gone in FEP stage, but I think everytime they test it they scan the complete area to make sure that there aren't any snoops

I`m with you Tigrelle, I am pretty sure that the 2013 S class entered the FEP stage, but I can`t agree with you regarding the Sindelfingen plant. They prepared the plant but the S it`s not the only model that it is produced there. I`m sure Paris 2012 next October is the place where we will see it.

I think we might see a preview of the W222 at the Geneva Motor Show. Some kind of Vision Coupé Concept.

Why do you think that ? I don`t think you`re right because the S class it`s a special model and we have to wait not even an year to see it ! Concepts predict a model usually with 2 or 3 years earlier.

Vision concepts tend to predict a model that's 12-24 months away. So a "Mercedes-Benz Vision Esse Coupé" would predict the new S Coupé for 2013.

The only thing Mercedes might preview is the S-Coupe. It´s a bit too late to preview the S-Class.

Even now..S65 is superior to every Bentley or RR in every possible way.:)

Superior in it's ride compared to the Phantom? Superior in it's quality ?
Have you ever driven the Phantom or had a ride in it ?
Don't get me wrong the W221 is my favorite luxury car but you are exaggerating :t-cheers:

The average luxury car stays is production 'bout 7 years.

F01 7er 2008-2015
D4 A8 2010-2017
W222 S 2012-2019

If they would wait too long the new S won't enjoy it's superiority time.
Do you get me.

Dont mind Tarek, its just one of his lovers gonna love moment ;)

One thing is for sure though..

The Rollers will have a old ass 7er chassi to go up against a brand new one from the S..
And later on a brand new 7er chassi..so those cars will actually be on sale very long ..be overpriced dinosaurs.
Like the Maybach was to the existing S class..

Thats the negative part of uber luxury cars with 10-15 year life cycles.. technology moves fast these days;)

Do you know something for sure about this "Mercedes-Benz Vision Esse Coupe" ? And let`s not forget that the 2013 S class was "previewed" by the F700 Concept although I prefer no resemblances between the F700 and W222. F700 is ugly as hell.

F700 previews some aspects of the W222 we can already expect to find in the car. The dropping shoulder line as in the CLS, the shape of the rearlights seems to be similar, and the interior is going to have a single screen showing the dials and infotaiment, as we have seen in the interior spy pics and as Mercedes has shown with thir mBrace2 tech during CES.

Regarding the S-Coupe Concept, the F125! gives us some clues about the S-Coupe. The glasshouse and the shoulder line seem to be mimic by the S-Coupe when it arrives.

Granted, I acknowledge your points about the new Rolls getting an older chassie from the 7er and all. We need to see Rolls Royce in a different light though. It`s not about life-cycles with Rolls Royce. It is the car of a lifetime!
Cars from Rolls Royce, Bentley and Maybach were not created to feature all the latest gizmos and gadget "cycles" in the first place.( technology is all second hand here) These cars are created for Kings, Queens and Heads of States who have arrived and are retired. The Rolls, Maybach (and Bentley models) are about their image and fits their needs with vast comforts and royal features these folks want to be driven in. (these cars are like the "Kings-Chambers" if you will.)

Cars like the S-Class, BMW 7er, Audi A8, the Jag XJ and Lexus LS are all about the latest technological developements and achievements. It`s become a racing game here to see who can play it best.
We must understand this racing game is clearly not played by Rolls Royce, Bentley or Maybach. (Although Bentley wants to enter in!)

The S-Class is clearly ahead of the pack in term of quality, technological achievement, performance and comfort than it`s compeditors. Now the S-Class wants to enter a new segment and wear the Crown of a Rolls Royce or Maybach,
The Crown of a King if you will. Time will tell if it is successful here. Design will play a major roll. I personally feel the S-Class would be much more Successful wearing this crown than any of it`s compeditors from Germany as it already has an excellent prestigious image about it. Wearing the crown of a Rolls or Maybach is a big responsibility which is not going to be easy, anyway you cut it!

This.:)

also acc to TG reviews with both cars shows the superior ride and handling of the S.

Sorry for cluttering the thread.
