Official brochure was in the mail today:

I hope you don't mind, but I think that it would be great if you edited your posts to switch out/replace your currently uploaded photos with each of these watermarked photos below, in order to prevent any websites from taking credit from you for these photos(especially Auto Spies). Thanks again for all of these brochure scans and welcome to German Car Forum!:)

245 section tires. We are going thinner, I see. I hope Sport models retain their 255/275 config (or go 255/285).

Thanks for your efforts, but I guess the brochure will be out to everybody within the next few days anyway. ..

I am a bit disappointed with few things:
1. V6 Diesel power. It seems unchanged, and... a bit small, don't you think? I really hoped MB will enhance it's diesels.
2. Weight of the car. Almost 2 tons. I expected it to be less :(
3. Trunk space: 510 (350CDI, 400HYBRID) and 530 (500) liters. W221 has 560 liters, and W212 has 540.
4. CLOTH IN THE STANDARD TRIM??? IN THE S CLASS??? I've never seen any S (since W140) without leather.

Interesting to see that there are 2 types of LED headlights: LED High Performance and LED Intelligent Light System.

Anthrazitblau is my choice;)

Hate to admit this, but I don't like the standard interior or headlights.
Also wondering why they didn't use the whole instrument cluster screen for night vision?

1. Agree
2. Who cares its not a supercar
3.Again who cares? its not a transporter..over 500 liters is huge
4. There will not be cloth in standard trim, there is an no cost option for those who do not like leather.

Its not a supercar, but it should keep its weight down as much as possible. However, maybe the car in itself isn't that heavy, its the toys that are fitted in it that make it heavy:)

I wouldn't mind if it had the same capacity as before. I just don't like something to be less than before:)

Didn't know about the standard trim and Cloth vs Leather. (y) So it is matter of preference, or an optional extra?

P.S. The steering wheel is lovely to look at.

^at least here it is..

The S comes with leather standard in most country's i know of..

Correct me if im wrong

Meilensammler, please ensure piracy protection against Auto Spies, as I do NOT want them to take any credit from you.

Piracy protection?!! He doesn't own the photos. MB own the photos. They took them. The only pirate is the guy posting them and breaking the embargo.

Now if Meilensammler had taken real life photos himself, then that's a different matter.

The clock might be ticking quickly for the world premiere of the all new, and very important for a number of reasons, 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan, at a special event in Hamburg, Germany, next week on Wednesday, May 15 (watch the reveal live here), but the internet never rests…
On top of all the other official and unofficial leaks ranging from the front-end picture of the luxury full-size sedan to images of a toy die-cast model, we now have a brochure of the W222-codenamed Mercedes S-Class, courtesy of a reader of the Germancarforum.

Looks like someone made the news! :) @Meilensammler

2-tons for a S500 is pretty good for this class. Only the XJ would be lighter, if that is right?

sod all difference - even if you trust Jaguar's claimed weights:

XJ 5 litre S/C SWB - 1,945 kg (to EU standard)
S500(/550) SWB - 1,995 kg

In practice the Jag will be around 100 kg heavier than claimed.

The standout in the comparison with the XJ against the new S-Class is not the weight but the engine and hence fuel efficiency. The supercharged V8 in the Jag drinks fuel for fun, whereas the 4.7 V8 bi-turbo in the Merc, even with the about to superseded 7-speed auto, is an order of difference more efficient, whilst being even faster:

XJ 5 litre S/C SWB - 11.6 l/100km, 24.4 mpg, 20.3 US mpg, CO2 270g/km, 0-62 mph 4.9s
S500(/550) SWB - 8.6 l/100km, 33 mpg, 27.4 US mpg CO2 199g/km, 0-62 mph 4.8s

With the 9-speed auto in 2015MY and the S400 3 litre V6 bi-turbo in the range there's gonna be some serious butthurt with the 'lightweight' Big Cat.

So, you assume Jaguar's official weights are wrong, yet you completely trust MB's fuel economy claims? Speaking from my own extensive experience of the big three German manufacturers, the MB S 350 BlueTEC was by far the furthest away from the official claimed figures when I drove it. Audi A8 3.0 TDI quattro was around 45 mpg over 2,000km. BMW 730d 40.1 mpg over 4,000km. S 350 CDI BlueTEC? 31.0mpg over 1,800km.

As a comparison, here are the W222 figures against the W221 and the relevant BMW and Audi models:

All weights to EU1 standard.

7.1 secs (0-100km/h)

Audi A8 3.0 TDI quattro (D4)
250hp/1,915kg (131hp/tonne)
6.1 secs (0-100km/h)

BMW 730d (F01)
258hp/1,915kg (135hp/tonne)
