Actually you can easily see if a car has a HUD from the outside because there is a hole in the dash from where it projects from.

What if Mercedes has a new technology that makes the HUD appear in the window without a projector thingy.
It soundsa bit fairytailish but come on it's the new S-Class, it always has new mindblowing techno stuff, this could be one of them.

Taking a pic of a projected thing on the windscreen from 50 yards away isn't an easy feat, especially when everything is hidden so well. It's not like the projection shows up on your whole windshield like the i8 in mission impossible.

Sis has a HUD display on her '09 650i and it's nifty. The new HUD's seem to be in color. The S class has innovated generation after generation and this generation will be no different. The S class is what Mercedes does best and there is no chance they are going to skimp on it. Expect some mind-blowing how the *censored* did they do that technology. Also, MB publicly stated the new generation of cars will be lighter then their predecessor. That's a welcome change.

Presently Mercedes prefers the multivision display in the cluster.

As far as I know the 7er has a HUD and Night-Vision.

I am refering to the thing that the projection comes out of which is a square hole in the dash.

IF they are indeed testing an HUD in a prototype, I'm sure the projector in the dash would be covered up along with a vast majority of the interior during the bulk of its testing.

And a whole lot of other tech that that S class doesn't have.

But, like Human said, of course MB doesn't have it because it isn't up to their golden standard, according to Wolfgang. LOLOL.

Pages and pages of HUD talk, lol. To me, it's meaningless. IMO it's an overrated Option, though I've never driven so hard at the limit where I couldn't spare to look at the speedo.

Today the 9th of January Mercedes-Benz has a press-conference on the Detroit Auto Show.
Althoug I think they will not release the S-Class, I have a slight hope that they will give certain details or maybe even a release date.
And for people saying: ''It's the TWO THOUSAND AND THIRTEEN Mercedes S-Class'', then keep in mind that the M-Class was released in June '11 as a 2012 model.

What do you expect:eusa_pray

I don't think we'll see/hear anything concerning the S-Class tomorrow. Mercedes has almost never given out a release date ahead of a model's launch, and when they did (SLS) it happened only two weeks before. Tomorrow's press conference will be all about the new SL and E hybrids.

This year Merc. will also release: Next gen. A and GL Class and the CLS Shooting brake.
Hope they will hear something about that then.
I mean we already know the new SL and the E hybrid (they're great) but why tell so much about it. You know what I mean?

It helps, especially on a track and it displays what gear you're in with the tach info.

And still no NEW pictures...

I have not much experience with HUD but if people who actually experience HUD in their cars says its helpful then I believe in them more than the people here who haven't experience HUD. Besides I rather have HUD than massage in the seats ;)

hi i drove my friends 750i and he had HUD on his car we drove at night...its nice but i dont know if its really a neccasity ,,its more like a cool thing feautre then anything alyhough we drove 300 kms it was a bit off a piss off at times....I asked him if he likes it he said it was fun when he bought the car as a novelty now he says he feels he wasted his money should have rather put some other extra...I am shure MB will have something simlar or something soon but the thing is with these extras they cost so so so much here in SA and when you sell the car you get nothing back..

Back to the S calss i would like to see more pics cant wait...
