E-Class (W213) [Spyshots] 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W213)

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, sold from 2016 as a 2017 model. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63S versions of the W213 have been available as well from 2016 (as a 2017 model), and these are the only versions with V8 engines.

Just lights and lower front bumper covered up, almost there Mercedes. The classic grill looks very nice indeed, love the 2 horizontal chrome lines per horizontal section.

obviously this car is going to be superb which we know by now....after seeing numerous spy photos of which we simply can't get enough of, the double-louvered grill is simply to rich for the E-Class imo, which is usually reserved for the top S-Class models, I don't know the strategy behind this decision.

I'm possibly in the minority, but I would like to see the return of the traditional mesh grid between the chrome slats (at least on the new E):

A while back MB exterior engineer Günther Fischer talked about the lights in this video. Auto-generated subtitles can be turned on, and also be autotranslated into various languages, if desired. :)

With respect to the design sketch released by Mercedes today.

“Emotional design and intelligent high-tech perfectly embody the Mercedes-Benz design philosophy of Sensual Purity,” Mercedes gushes on various social media channels today, with the release of this sketch. The car to which they are referring is, of course, the next-generation E-class, which will be fully unveiled at the Detroit auto show in less than two weeks.

The highly accurate teaser sketch by exterior design chief Robert Lesnik depicts the new E-class with its “sports grille” and large five-spoke wheels. Daimler also will offer a version of the E-class with the traditional “luxury grille,” which gets an upright three-pointed star on the hood. The new E-class mirrors the styling of the C-class and the S-class, and the proportions work especially well on this executive sedan. The horizontal lower front air intakes add a sporty touch, the upper character line—referred to as the “catwalk line”—is supposed to underscore the vehicle’s elegance.
