E-Class W213 [Spyshots] 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W213)

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, sold from 2016 as a 2017 model. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63S versions of the W213 have been available as well from 2016 (as a 2017 model), and these are the only versions with V8 engines.
I wonder why they call w213 tenth generation, if it is the fifth generation :)
The E-class naming started in 1993 with the facelifted W124 as then Mercedes Benz changed their vehicle naming system, which started with the W202 C-class receiving the designation C and then the engine variant, C180 as example. This was then applied to the W124 naming changed from 280E to E280 as example as well as other models, S-class, SL, etc.

The actual history of the middle class (or executive) Mercedes started before this and here is the model history:

W120 - 1953 to 1960 (1st gen)
W110 - 1961 to 1968 (2nd gen)
W114 (stroke 8), W115 - 1968 to 1976 (3rd gen)
W123 - 1976 to 1986 (4th gen)
W124 pre-FL - 1984 to 1993 (5th gen mid sized)
W124 FL - 1993 to 1995 (6th gen mid sized and 1st gen E-class named model)
W210 - 1995 to 2002 (7th gen mid sized but 2nd gen E-class named model)
W211 - 2002 to 2009 (8th gen mid sized but 3rd gen E-class named model)
W212 - 2009 to 2016 (9th gen mid sized but 4th gen E-class named model)
W213 - 2016 onwards to 2023? (10th gen mid sized but 5th gen E-class named model)

Interesting facts about sizes of current C-class (W205) and 3-series (F30) and compared to previous mid range Mercedes W115 and BMW E12 models from the 1970's.

2015 Mercedes C180: Length-4686mm, width-1810mm, wheelbase-2840mm, height-1442mm, weight-1320kg
1972 Mercedes 200:Length-4685mm, width-1770mm, wheelbase-2750mm, height-1440mm, weight-1330kg

2015 BMW 320i: Length-4633mm, width-1811mm, wheelbase-2810mm, height-1429mm, weight-1400kg
1972 BMW 520: Length-4620mm, width-1690mm, wheelbase-2636mm, height-1425mm, weight-1230kg

So the current compact saloons are as big as the midrange models from the 1970's.

Mercedes' test videos are so funny to me. Look how the pedestrian/dummy is swinging his legs!!!!! OMG HILARIOUS!

The first video says 186 prototypes and 1.6 million kilometers. The second says 1200 prototypes and 12 million kilometers.

Has this 2hr video been posted before? Look at close to 55min mark when this guy is passenger inside the E-class with dual widescreen display at night time. The graphics and functions on both screens is unreal, amazing, The touch pads on steering wheel work superbly, left side controlling the left drivers display and right pad controlling the right side satnav display. This cars interior is best in class by far.
