E-Class W213 [Spyshots] 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W213)

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, sold from 2016 as a 2017 model. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63S versions of the W213 have been available as well from 2016 (as a 2017 model), and these are the only versions with V8 engines.
Has it been confirmed yet or does anyone know if the new E will have a digital Dashboard? all the spy pics I have seen seem to be with the analogue dials.

I am going to assume that the analogue panel is for testing purposes only.

Now that a digital dashboard is in use on the 222, more models will follow, and the 213 seems like the perfect vehicle to apply it to next, given the amount of technology that will be introduced.

Can you please clarify what you mean by "W212 E-Class was matched with the W211 E from the start,"?

Cheers.

Budgets were just about matched. Not that much was invested in technology and innovation developments. Like the W221 S-Class reliability was the main focus.

and the Estate is out!

Possible Mercedes-Maybach E-Class makes spy photo premiere (19 pics)

Features a longer wheelbase
An interesting next generation E-Class prototype wrapped around in camouflage has been caught on camera by our spy photographers.

We have enough reasons to believe this is indeed a more luxurious derivative of the next generation E-Class which will be sold under the newly established Mercedes-Maybach division. First of all, the wheelbase is obviously longer compared to what we have seen on recent E-Class W213 prototypes. Second of all, we think the car now has a third side window after the C pillar in the same vein as the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

Third of all and perhaps more interesting, we noticed the side and rear windows are tinted probably because the Daimler-owned marque wants to keep prying eyes away from the rear seat area. This is most likely due to the reason the Mercedes-Maybach E-Class will feature very luxurious individual rear seats like its bigger brother.

It's unlikely this is simply a Mercedes-Benz-branded E-Class long wheelbase version because the current model doesn't have the third side windows after the C pillar. In addition, the E-Class L is a China-only model and the wheelbase difference compared to the standard model is not as significant.

Lastly, Mercedes has already expressed its intentions to expand the Maybach portfolio, hinting that two candidates are the next generation E-Class and GL (to be renamed GLS).

Yup, that's definitely a Mercedes-Maybach - the rear side windows may be hidden, but the shape of the rear doors and longer wheelbase do give it way. Surprised they started testing it so soon though.

MB just officially confirmed the E-Class Maybach. No C-Class Maybach is planned, though. :)

Interesting. I guess I have to see it and maybe I'll understand it better, but at this point it doesn't make sense to me to utilize the Maybach (sub)branding for anything below the S-class.

MB really let their hair down with this one, Maybach E who would hamve thought?, beyond understanding, however it is really intriguing, it would be a world first for it's segment.

Suspect MBUSA may still be interested in a Mercedes-Maybach E-Class? Perhaps the arrival of the CLA is supposed to push the C, E and S up a notch? :)

Steve Cannon Confirms a Mercedes-Maybach E-Class

It seems that the future looks bright for the Mercedes-Maybach as a lot of plans for it have been revealed just recently. Now, another range has been officially confirmed to receive the ultra-luxurious treatment from the sub-brand of the three-pointed star marque. According to Steve Cannon in his interview with Automotive News, they are also looking to make a Mercedes-Maybach E-Class.

The revelation of Steve Cannon supported the statements of Dr. Dieter Zetsche and Dr. Hermann-Joseph Storp about the mass expansion of the resurrected Maybach name as a sub-brand of Mercedes. It should be noted that the Daimler CEO and his development director for Mercedes-Benz S-Class particularly pointed out that there will most likely be a Mercedes-Maybach SUV. It was speculated that the GLS might be the recipient of a Maybach badge.

Now, the question is when will we get to see the Mercedes-Maybach E-Class and the next line of other ultra-luxury variants? So far, there’s no word yet from Mercedes officials about the matter. Considering that the company just launched theMercedes-Maybach S600 not too long ago, and their sights are currently focused on the S600 Pullman this year, we might be counting at least two years before a new Mercedes-Maybach-named auto will come in the picture.

Going back to the Mercedes-Maybach E-Class, although no other official information about it is present yet, it is assumed that it will have a longer wheelbase, plus a more opulent and spacious interior compared to the standard model.

^ The Mercedes-Maybach is also very popular in Russia at present, with nearly half of sales in the first half. The Maybach E may also receive the first class executive rear with individual recliners. Leaving e.g. from Manhattan to Newark Liberty International or Kennedy can take a lot of time during the rush hour, and in a Maybach E could be used to snooze properly, or catch up on business. :)

They should not use the Maybach brand. Maybach should save it for something premium and bespoke but not across the MB lines imo.

BTW, this report was in error due to translation, they now write. A Daimler spokesperson said the Mercedes-Maybach E-Class is mere speculation. :)

justit may just be a corporate stunt, I still think the Maybach E is going into being, because the spy photos clearly indicate a Maybach style format, the third rear windows being the biggest clue..i very much doubt it is just a boring LWB E.

I will like a lwb e but not a maybach e. In order for the maybach to justify for its price tag, it has to remain exclusive
