Without being radical, that new front is definitely very current, it will have to be seen with all the car attached to it, I think it will make more sense then, I am struck by the difference between the radicalism inside and the evolutionary outside, I think the interior was designed for the EQS to which it fits without a doubt, and they had to decide the 2 x 1

I think this one is better ( non AMG both )

So you're comparing maybach to non amg?

Agree...

Still missing that burst inside....W222 wa...

Looking at this pic or comparison I must say the W223 front is looking very fresh and I actually like it more then the W222 more I see it ..its going to be a beauty when we see it in full .

I am really liking the new photos the front is looking very good.

I wish they didn't have the hood shutline though for the rest it's a lovely front end and really liking the new lights

It is what it is. The S-Klasse.
It cannot be radical, it can't be polarising. It cannot alienate its client base.
It will blend in and be anonymous like their traditional owners or chauffeured clientele prefer.

The only chance you will notice it is when it is being driven down the streets by a pre-20 year old of Berlin blasting Turkish rap music.
In which people will just say "daddy's car".

I expect EQS will be far more adventurous in style. It's good they have that option to not alienate the traditional S-Klasse customer but provide a whole new direction to travel S-Klasse with the EQS. It's going to be interesting to watch because this is the rival to the W223.

If you want entertainment, view Mr Wageners Instagram post of the new front image. Pretty much everything is negative, never seen such a reaction before. So many funny comments. Perhaps not all prospective buyers, but a segment of society that usually loves his images which he shares has turned gainst him. The huge wave of negativity is something I have never seen before. One even said he wouldn't dare share an image of the rear.

Love it so far. It's a very good start.

In non AMG spec it has a stronger front end compared to the non AMG spec W221. It's fresh and it's imposing without being brash. Seeing them side by side the old adage holds true. Nothing dates and S, other than a new S.

For those wanting a thick chrome grill, I'm sure the Maybachs are going to turn the grill bling up to your desired level. This is more than enough for standard spec S.

LOL at those here relying on Instagram reactions as an indication of how good the design is. I suppose if it makes them feel better...

In 12-18 months time, this S will be declared a resounding design success.

The only other S-Class that had less chrome on its grill was the W220 back in 2000.
Back then the W220 was really radical for an S-Class. It was light, lean and rather small looking.

I remember showing some friends of mine at the Marriott hotel where I used to work and some other friends at car dealerships and the reactions were rather stong!
Some suggesting it looked like Ford, not a Mercedes. Some were in disbelief that it was a Mercedes product at all. The most striking element of the W220 was its sleek design that clearly broke rank with the vault-like appearance of the W126 and W140 models, the expectations were that the next S should follow suit with the previous versions. Clearly that did not happen and was the reason for the shockwave.

It seems the W220 S-Class is reborn here with these unexpected changes. The W223 appears to be a sportier S-Class, designed to appeal to a younger wealthier clientele.

With this nice official sketch, plus the photo of the front, it seems that the presentation is inminent at least on the web

I don’t think its the official sketch, the guys seems to do sketching of all models.

Of course it isn't official, the mirror design is still the old one (current) design, and not the new mirror design seen on the new car. C pillar design and trim is also wrong.

Look for milanjasnic on instagram, this is his sketch

OMG those rims are quite good and unusual.

By the C pillar it seems like this is a sketch of a Maybach, but the grill and the front doesn’t seem to confirm it. Anyways, with the flat door handles and those rims this car looks very progressive.

It seems some elements were taken from the GT63s, the headlights and how they cut into the grill giving a somewhat serious sporty look. The protruding grill also plays a role.
