The interior worries me on the new one. The current generation’s interior door panels are a work of art. The way the wood flows the seat controls, everything. This looks quite plain.
The doors panels of the current car are indeed a work of art. They look as timeless today as they did when released. Absolutely beautiful.
That said, I'd gladly give up some of the beauty for quality and build that feels more then skin deep. The C-class certainly feels a bit 'chintzy' in it's current form.
Well said,I still enjoy looking at it when waiting red light. The doors panels of the current car are indeed a work of art. They look as timeless today as they did when released. Absolutely beautif
I haven't experienced the issues you mentioned in the wife's 2017 C200 Sport.I’ve had more rattles in my C, than in my previous CLA. Overhead rattle still annoys the hell out of me. And the creaking when pushing the center console wood and buttons is certainly annoying. I didn’t have these things in my wife Jeep Grand Cherokee, not now in her Volvo XC90 which feels much better screwed together. Not sure why MBs arent as well screwed together

Where are these cars produced? I suppose the former in the US and the later in China. Does anyone have experience with C classes produced in Germany, US and China to compare their built quality?Well said,I still enjoy looking at it when waiting red light.

Was it a first year model ? This is something I intend to avoid in the future.I’ve had more rattles in my C, than in my previous CLA. Overhead rattle still annoys the hell out of me. My C was produced in Alabama. My CLA was produced in Hungary. I’ve noticed certain differences in quality in production.
On my C43 the rear bumper wasn’t well aligned at the wheel well on one side. Dealer fixed.
my C43 pano roof motor is much louder than the CLA.
my C43 rear view mirrors, the actual mirror, vibrate a little at high speeds. Never happened in my CLA.
the person actually installing my left door panel didn’t seem to be very careful because the door pin was scratched the speaker cover was scratched and the a pillar trim was scratched.
I also noticed the supplier of the trim on the inside of the trunk must be different because the trim on my CLA was a nicer quality and feel that on my C
I love my car though. I have diamond white on the outside with the night package and the designo brown interior.
Of course it matters where it is produced, because not only the final assembly but also most of the parts are provided locally by different than the German suppliers. When you start the assembly with parts that do not have the quality of the parts with which the car was designed, then the chances of built quality issues are very high. Some of those things are just poor engineering and specification, not because of where or who put the car together. Things like poorly fitting items are on the other hand just poor assembly.
Mercedes is simply putting out too many cars now and the quality is suffering big time. A complete shame for a company that used to be meticulous about such things.
