3 plug-in hybrid batteries?
For example, you could use 3 plug-in hybrid batteries from the new Mercedes C-Class (W206, petrol & diesel world premiere in February 2021). Assuming that a PHEV battery has around 100 KW of power and that a 20-22 kWh battery is used in the C-Class W206, this would mean a gross capacity of 60-66 kWh for the EQA.

World premiere of the new Mercedes C-Class at the end of Feb 2021

Mercedes will present the new C-Class (W206) to the world public at the end of Feb 2021 - with a lot of technology from the new S-Class

It is currently only on final testing with very light camouflage.
As with the previous series, the design is based on the S-Class. This time, the new C-Class (W206) will also take over some of the technology from the new S-Class (W223).
The new MBUX with the large central display (NTG7.0) is also available in the new C-Class. In this case, only the standard air conditioning will have to be controlled via a hardware control island.

That means the rough structure of the interior comes from the S-Class, even if the ventilation nozzles are rather round in the C-Class. The inside door panels seem to have a little fewer decorative parts compared to the current series.

In addition, the new C-Class also optionally has the active ambient lighting familiar from the S-Class.
As in the S-Class, the headlights are optionally available with the Digital Light with around 1 million mirrors per main headlight.
As with the S-Class, there will be over-the-air (OTA) updates for many functions (the S-Class has a total of 50 control units). This will also be the case with the new C-Class (206 series).

The rear axle steering with a 10 degree angle is not necessary due to the shorter wheelbase and will not come with it.
Compared to the W205, the W206 should no longer offer an Airmatic as an optional feature.
As already known, the C-Class W206 only gets 4-cylinder engines.
The M264 and M254 are used in the gasoline engines. The diesel derivatives are powered by the OM654 and OM654M.

The AMG derivatives of the C-Class
The AMG entry-performance model C 43 AMG 4matic (M254) and the top-performance model C 63e AMG 4matic + (M139) also have an electric turbocharger in the style of the MGK-H from Formula 1. This around 6-8 hp E-motor on the turbocharger reliably fills every turbo lag.
The C 63e 4matic + develops 449 hp from a 2.0 liter displacement and is coupled to a 204 hp electric motor on the rear axle. However, the power of the e-machine will not be available in full, since the small AMG performance battery can probably provide a little less KW peak.
Plug-in hybrid P2 and P3 layout on offer
The production models will have the familiar P2 plug-in hybrid layout (motor - e-machine - 9G-Tronic). Under the AMG E-Performance label, AMG is using a P3 plug-in hybrid layout for the first time in the C 63e 4matic + (engine - 9G-Tronic - rear axle drive with electric motor).
The battery size of the series plug-in hybrid models will be 20-22 kWh and last for almost 100 km according to WLTP.
The engine line-up:
  • C 180d (OM654 DE 16) 122 hp, summer / autumn 2021
  • C 200d (OM654 DE 16) 160 hp, spring 2021
  • C 220d (OM654 DE 20) 194 hp, spring 2021
  • C 300de (OM654 DE) 194 HP + 150 HP end of 2021
  • C 300d (OM654M DE 20) 265 hp + 20 hp
  • C 180 (M264 DE 15) 156 hp +16 hp, summer / autumn 2021
  • C 200 (M264 DE 20) 197 hp +16 hp, spring 2021
  • C 300e (M254 DE 20) 2xx PS +150 PS, end of 2021
  • C 350 (M254 DE 20) 272 PS +20 PS ISG + 41 PS (30s turbo overboost), spring 2021
  • C 43 AMG 4matic + (M254 DE 20) 390 hp + 20 hp, summer 2021
  • C 63e AMG 4matic + EQ Power + (M139) 449 PS + EQ Power + module on the rear axle with a system output well over 500 PS, beginning of 2022

No surprise in nixing the Airmatic. Here in the U.S., the pricey options (designo interior, Airmatic) became increasingly hard to find/nonexistent after the W205 refresh.

I have my C43 with the design brown interior. Couldn't beleive they nixed it after the facelift. It's one of the nicest interiors of any car in any class.

Did they anticipate the presentation by chance? I knew it was around April

Geneva was dying already. Awful the last time I visited, as was Frankfurt. Motor shows are dead.
I think covid propelled the digital presentations quite a lot, honestly I enjoy them more because they are made as a replacement for the real one. The real auto show presentations were only for those who are physically there, all that recording was always quite bad, had to wait for individual reviews from youtubers

I've also become a fan of digital presentations. Footage presenting a comprehensive and precise visual experience without the hassle of dodging "real life" crowds with the view-blocking bobbing heads and occasional obnoxious behavior.

What door trim we can see looks a bit disappointing as they eliminated any alu or wood strips and as a result it doesnt look any more upmarket than an A-class, There is S-class influence with the electric seat contrils and door handle shape and black shiny plastic surround. Seats look quite comfy.

The dividing line above the door handle panel looks a bit unnatural, I mean the fitting, it’s too thick. I think it is a cover for the ambient lighting, similarly to the S class, and in that case the doors are not bad. Imagine having it in a different color than black, with the upper part connected to the window in black, and having a thick ambient line going between the two colors - I think it’s quite nice. Also given how they solved the wood and black plastic combo in the S, the covered area under the door handle might have wood trim connected to the front trim, so from the point of view of someone actually sitting in the car, it might look quite rich and balanced.

in fact, seen so camouflaged, the door panel does not look much, but I repeat it is only covered

I really like the awkward live presentations, with some random singer prancing around and the press just waiting for the car. ‍♂️

Wow Mercedes electric car offensive in 2021 is awesome, 4 brand new vehicles, EQA, EQB, EQS and EQE plus some high performance plug in hybrids will bring their average emissions levels down quite a bit. I am quite surprised they launching the C-class sedan and T-model at the same time, there is normally a 6 months gap from sedan to T-model launch in previous gen launches.

Spy pic of the C53, as usual the new C-class continues the brilliant rear drive proportions with short front overhang and short rear deck.

The rear wheels look surprisingly smaller than the front wheels

Nice 4 tail pipes, maybe 1x for each cylinder. Hope none are fake.

If only this C came with the new I6 and a revised V8 it would probably be perfect. As it stands it's all moped and lawnmower engines = PASS.

THE NEW C-CLASS ONLY COMES WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

With the new generation of the C-Class, Mercedes-Benz is putting an end to manual gearshifts and is relying exclusively on engines with automatic transmissions. On the one hand, this saves costs and at the same time increases the rationalization of vehicle production.

Farewell to the manual transmission

If you are a passionate driver and still prefer the manual gearbox, you will have to switch with the introduction of the new C-Class generation in 2021. In the longer term, however, the other model series at Mercedes-Benz will also switch completely to automatic transmission.

World premiere of the sedan with the T-model in parallel

The world premiere of the new C-Class will take place with the parallel presentation of the sedan and the T-model (W / S 206) towards the end of February 2021, whereby the vehicle should be in the salesrooms as early as summer 2021.
