In my imaginary dream garage I would have a Brabus restored one along side a Singer Porsche.
The Singer perfect, but the Brabus... is a Brabus SL restored or an SL restored by Brabus?, big difference

It seems incredible that this is the interior with the hard top of the LCI, it is full of surprises

With that light colored interior, it's so much better than modern cars, get out of that and get into a Tesla.... I don't get it, it's a great way to go to the office every day, what envy, it's like a goal have one like that, I must move out of this country first (there must be two here), I think.
Almost all contemporary wheels look beautiful on it, the 8-hole ones, these 5-hole ones, and the AMG ones, I don't even know which one suits it better

The R129 SL looks great with so many different types of wheels.

Even the standard wheels shown on this launch pic from 1989 still look great

SL restored by Brabus.

They either refurbish existing components or replace them with new ones sourced from Mercedes.

Concourse level workmanship with highly detailed documentation of the original car and the restoration process.

R107 and R230 are gorgeous. But the R129 SL 73 AMG cannot be topped; there was nothing like it back in the days.

The R129 still is quite a looker. In my opinion the R129 looks even better with the hard top on.

SL restored by Brabus.

That's why the "big difference", I discovered the Brabus classics through a video a year ago, and it seemed to me the sumun of restoration at a level that I had not seen, my jaw dropped when I saw that it was the same Brabus...

We will be the best restaurateurs in the world, for connoisseurs and people with good taste, let's charge a million per car.
We will also be the tunning kings in the world, for people with money and zero taste, let's charge a million per car

I kinda like this Restomod of a 450SLC by DC Customs. The headlights maybe could have been a little more discreet but otherwise it looks near perfect.

The panoramic roof, it’s perfect.

Yeah, but you have to put a window film on it to avoid being showered with broken glass, should the roof decide to shatter itself.

And that's why I'm terrified of panoramic roofs. We had a Hyundai Sonata with a panoramic sunroof without window film and we always feared it would explode when we drove through tunnels and underpasses. Not to mention that it pinched some inches of headroom. My father who was 1,96 m tall would struggle to fit in the car without his head touching the sunroof shade. He hated it driving that car.

I forgot to post back in the summer that I bought a R230 SL500 as a project car and cruiser. I was set on a SL55, but everyone was looking for crazy money I'd did not want to spend on a near 20 year old car. Plus this model has the coil over swap to save me tons of misery. The powertrain is absolutely bullet proof - not particularly fast, but smooth and solid.

What disappoints me a bit is the amount of cheap buttons and the roof trim pieces I've has to swap out due to rattles or breakage... early 2000's MB build quality doing it's magic. Otherwise it's a fantastic budget proposition, with no ABC of course and a service record.

As far as the poll - I'd probably go with very late model R129 SL600 (missed the boat as they are worth a lot now), followed by a R230 Sl55/65.

You are not allowed to forget to post things like this, how dare you, those wheels equal (similar) to those of the SLR concept take the biggest prize, I never understood why they didn't put them on the production SLR and here they are, they are real

Yes the wheels had me sold.. rare for reasons I don’t understand - everything on the car is OEM except the coil overs, which I’ll gladly accept aftermarket over ABC.

As much as I always loved this on the outside, its interior ruined everything for me, not only in photos it looks bad, sitting in it, the poor quality and deplorable design entered your pores....

The steering wheel seems to have 4 pimples and what I see in the top in the middle is it a digital clock? like in the Fiats of the 80'? really??

should the roof decide to shatter itself.

In fairness, that roof was hit by a small projectile that can be seen bouncing off in front of the B post on the E-class behind, it didn't go all on its own, and when it did go it stayed in one piece. It's no more likely to fail catastrophically for no reason than a windscreen, or worse a side window.
