The E-Class has outstanding proportions. But I believe the G60 shows a more innovative design both on the exterior and on the interior.
What is innovative about a design when it turns out ugly? Isn’t the goal of a car design to be good looking? All this about being more modern, progressive, innovative sounds ridiculous when you see an ugly car. It’s nonsense imo unless they achieved something great. Other new cars from other manufacturers don’t require all this BS. Good looking cars don’t require a single word to be spoken about their design.

Keep repeating to convince yourself. You're getting there.

E class is dead in the water with its nice proportions. No-one will want one. You gotta look outside of this forum filled with MB fanboys.

IMO both the E-Class and the 5er are utterly lame compared what is happening in design trends nowadays.

The 5er has nothing innovative but improvised and copied from other automakers, an old 1er design merged with some French design inspirations from few years ago.

The E-Class plays safe and also implements some design elements from older design trends like the connected headlights to the grille or badges all over.

Its a big world. And in a big world where electric charging infrastructure is far from perfect, I'm sure the E class will sell just fine.
Both the 5er and the E-class will be fine.

And in my experience there are far more BMW fanboys online than Mercedes. Which makes sense given that BMW positions themselves as a Driver-focused automobile brand, than Merc who are more luxury focused.

One really has to smile when reading this.

I believe by definition the designs that are more innovative will also be more divisive. I can understand why the W214 design could be liked by a larger number of people.

The same applies to the W211 vs E60 generation. But even when IMO the W211 had a rounder design at the time, nowadays I think the E60 has aged better.

But here we are talking about an era where BMW had the strongest design language and amazing visions from a designer perspective. The E60 was striking but ahead of its time.
Now they are „reheating food”, mixing what’s arround on the market and what’s left in the basement from current lame designs.

Not sure the general consensus back in 2003 was that optimistic with the E60. Nor with any other Bangle design.

Their designs were very striking but ahead of its time and a huge milestone for the whole industry.
Without BMW and Bangle we wouldn’t have such confident designs from other car makers nowadays. I think it still influences even 20 years after even some1’s love it or hate it.

Current BMW designs are not inspiring, the opposite BMW is now following trends as they are missing a vision which was the main factor in Bangles Era.

I have hope in Neue Klasse, but herefor Van Hooydonk has to retire.

Don’t think they are as driver focused as they used to be. Big squishy barges that weigh as much as the moon don’t make good drivers cars. Even the M2 is a little porky.

oneday someday we will have cars that are less than 3000 lbs… dear Santa…….

You’re as delusional as ever. Funny tho that you would say this when “repeating yourself” is what you guys do every time BMW shits the bed with an ugly new car. I mean you can’t even make this up. Got that mirror handy? It’s whatever you need to tell yourself in order to make these ugly cars fit.

Its never about what they actually are, but about how they are perceived. This is especially the case in today's world.
Applies both to BMW and Mercedes.

He borders on obsessive, he cannot accept that people like the car
Note: innovative has nothing to do with pretty or ugly and even less with the stubborn perception of a person who believes he has the last word over the opinions of everyone else wanting to establish his point by force.
