Saw my first one in the street yesterday. It was an i5 with the M Pack and in Tanzanite Blue. Besides the terrible color (which I dislike on every brand), I have to say the car looks great IRL.

It is huge but does not have that blocky feel of the G70 7er. And it’s entirely different than the G30 it replaces. Best part of it is the rear end, which looks super modern.

Hard to imagine this car not being the top seller of the segment.

And that’s not good, as it’s a low segment, also the 508 have very odd FWD proportions.

IMO both BMW with the 5er and Mercedes with their E-Class did a very lame job, the E-Class has an obsolete front and a weird try on futuristic interior and the G60 fails in its form and lack of personality.

I guess the lost in translation effect is due to desperate catching up on EV’s. All the effort is focused on that, that’s why BMW’s lineup looks like that, same on MB and their EQ monstruosities.
I'm curious, why is it not good? IMO styling has nothing to do with car segments. All manufacturers borrow styling from each other regardless of their segments.

As for the FWD I do agree the 5 has a bit too much going on in the front but the M Sport hides it much better.
