245kw is a big dollop of power. The front bumpers on the Golf R and TCR look Hurecan inspired.

I hope the Golf GTI will have a front locking diff as standard.

I think the product differentiation is very good. VW created two very separate classes (and additional margin) with the TCR and R. Their price must/should go up quite a lot as they created a real GT sport class below. More choices with different propulsions yet all in line.
Negative is that the progression of hp was exactly as expected. No surprises from VW.

It's fantastic that the Golf R will have a big power advantage over the wannabes M135i and A35.

The existence of the TCR is justified as sometimes a powerful FWD car can feel more natural and predictable compared with a AWD one - especially one fitted with RWS. *cough* *cough* Megane RS,

I wonder what power output the new S3 will have to justify a premium over the Golf R.
