S-Class W222 [Official] Mercedes-Benz S 65 AMG (W222)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class produced from 2013 to 2020, serving as the successor to the W221 S-Class and predecessor to the W223 S-Class. The W222 has a similar design theme to the C-Class (W205) and E-Class (W213).
I saw a Diamond White S63 AMG at a local dealership. I just stood there gawking at it. Those intakes. It's crazy how just standing still, it turns heads.

God damn they came through with this one..love the chromed accents..also the wheels are so V12..

And again fools thought Mercedes V12s were dead..

To those who say it needs to be updated, yeah sure..when the competition catches up.
This is by far the bossiest sedan in the world.. This and the Mulsanne.. ( RRs are not meant to be driven at all)

silly thing....I like the little discreet "AMG" badge within the grille. The W210-era pre-FL E AMG's used to have a tiny AMG badge on its front bumper lip that I quite liked.

German media is reporting Mercedes-Benz plans on introducing the S 65 AMG Coupe this July.

Following the introduction of the 2014 S 63 AMG Coupe, Mercedes-Benz seems to be getting ready to unleash the more powerful S 65 AMG Coupe which will receive the V12 6.0-liter twin-turbo engine from the S 65 AMG Sedan. The motor develops 630 HP (463 kW) between 4,800 rpm and 5,400 rpm and has a maximum torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) between 2,300 rpm and 4,300 rpm.

Performance figures should be similar to those of the sedan which needs 4.3 seconds until 62 mph (100 km/h) on its way to an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Power will be sent to the ground through a 7G-Tronic AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS gearbox while for more money clients will be able to order the optional AMG ceramic braking system.

The S 600 is to start production in mid April since it was delayed by about a month. Still looks like the 19" 10R wheels will be standard. :)

PS. The S 65 AMG production should have started already, in mid March.

So won't MB be having a media car of both this models??? I believe they had at least 1-2 media test car of S600 & S65 on W221.

Suspect it may be similar for the W222 S600/S65 soft launch. Daimler Media in Stuttgart can probably help you with more info on this. MB Passion has not yet reported on S 65 AMG or S 600 press drives. Latest such events seem to be all S-Class Coupe related. :)

Thank Wolfgang for your valuable information. I'll check with them. :)

So the s65 front is in a mercedes maybach mule... What about the s550L deal? Looked normal to me. Does Euro model have L in the end?

That's probable an S 600 Maybach front since the S 600 shares the dual AMG bars in the grille. The S 500 L is likely an LWB like those offered in China as present: :)

S 400 L Exclusive, S 400 L Luxury, S 400 L Hybrid, S 500 L, S 500 L 4Matic and S 63 L AMG 4matic.

I thought non-amg vehicles had the slats within the air intakes. That said, the 600 does have an amg engine.

Yes, thank you, you are correct. That's an S 65 Maybach front. :)

Even though the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, especially in S 600 or S 65 AMG guise, is more than good enough to act as the flagship sedan for the peeps in Stuttgart, the demise of the Maybach brand has left quite a lot of free room above this segment just for Rolls Royce and Bentley to play around in.

This didn't bode well with Dieter Zetsche, who let it slip last year that a Mercedes-Benz model situated above the best models from the current S-Class range is on the way.

We have known about the upcoming S-Class with extra-wheelbase for quite a few good months now, even finding out that the uber-luxurious car is set to make a return of the Maybach nameplate - not as a brand but as a model name.

Set to have a starting price that revolves around the pricing of a Rolls Royce Ghost or Bentley Flying Spur but offering the comfort and interior amenities that are usually found in the segment above (read: Rolls Royce Phantom and Bentley Mulsanne), the upcoming S-Class Maybach will also have a rear interior room large enough to fit the longest legs you can find this side of a catwalk model.

What we didn't know about the car so far is the entire engine lineup, with our guesses only revolving around the S 600 and S 500 Plug-in hybrid variants, as those were the only ones caught by spy photographers.

Until now, that is, as the following short spy video - shot somewhere in Spain - is depicting none other than the future Mercedes-Benz S 65 AMG Maybach model.

Set to feature the same six-liter, twin-turbocharged, V12 from the “regular” S 65 AMG, this beast of a car will have no direct competitor whatsoever, as neither Bentley nor Rolls-Royce think about offering performance versions of their flagship sedans.
