E-Class (W213/C238/A238) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213

The Mercedes-Benz W213 is the fifth generation of the E-Class range. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models (C238/A238) share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. Production: February 2016–2023. Model years: 2017–2023.
I just love this generation E-Class. The E53 sounds perfect for a daily driver. The coupe and convertible models are just icing on the cake.

Maybe later, but right now, I still feel like it cannot quite absorb the short sharp bumps as well as the W211..
Put on a set of 17" rims and it most certainly will. The disadvantage of these 19" and 20" wheels is that they leave very little sidewall for the tire to absorb.

I had a nice long drive today, the car has done 400 km so far, still plenty of km and months to go before it is fully run in.

The one thing I have noticed so far is that it is a bit tricky to modulate the speed of the car when reversing, there seems to be a slight lag/delay.

That doesn't sound good if you need to precision park. However, you probably quickly learn to accept is and drive accordingly.

Hi guys

I am soon getting my new E300de estate obisidian black with AMG styling.
I want to switch the "grey" part of the grill to black, as is delivered with night package.

Is it easy to pull out the old one and fit the new one?
Do one have to take off the entire front bumper?
how long does this job take? Can i do it myself, or do i have to have it done by dealer?

Thanks in advance :)

Update: C63 order has been cancelled, I tried to get on the E63 list and ended up with higher price tag + dealer doesn't want to make a special request for a car without sunroof or panoramic roof (which was the case with the C63 too).

Checked out 2020 Lexus RC F, mean looking car + pricey too, but the options I requested for were not on their list or the available stock that they were trying to sell me, which was another letdown (n)

Today, I closed the deal on a 2020 E450 4Matic *Hardtop* (Special Order) with a 4.5 months delivery time, could be delivered earlier, but that's all I know for now.

Exterior: designo Diamond White
Interior: Black / AMG-Line + Black Ash Wood Trim (identical to Monster's car)

Am I getting old ? :oldman:

Congratulations my friend ! It is certainly an unexpected choice. Did you consider the E 53 at all? Also what is your driving impression of the E 450?

The E 53 doesn't turn me on as much as the E 63, and the extra charge they're asking for is not worth it (520 Nm vs 500 Nm), E 450 is more than enough for a daily commute, which also allows me to fly under the radar with tons of power.

I didn't bother to ask for a test drive, but I have spent quite some time in a rental C200 and was very impressed with how easy it was to maneuver and park in tight spaces. The E class is even more spacious (Front + Rear) and a 12.3" infotainment display which is truly remarkable.

Congratulations on your choice for a fine Mercedes-Benz.
What exactly do you mean with “hardtop”?

This is hardtop, while on the German configurator you can leave it as it is w/o adding Sunroof or Panoramic on both C63 and E63, elsewhere seems to be either Sunroof is std or can be upgraded to Panoramic or Panoramic is mandatory.

Just a minor observation, but my gf has been inside the w211 and the w213, she actually prefers the interior of the W211, she said the interior of the W213 feels very "plasticky"

She has a point.
If you take a look at how the woodpieces are executed, I’d prefer the “vogelaugenahorn” wood from my W211 to the matte wood in my current car.

Just don't let your gf see your post calling her observation 'minor'.

The 211 has aged gracefully.
I still have an itch for one. Question is: which model?
Go for FL models, they look much better. The E220 CDI for low consumption, E350 as all round model and performance the E500 (285kw version) and E63 AMG with its manic 6.2 V8.

It was a beautiful sunny spring afternoon today, perfect for a drive to a nice scenic location, and a chance for me to take the W213 out once more.

I have kept the car in comfort mode for now until the car is properly run in.

The twin turbo 3.0L V6 delivers smooth, effortless performance in all situations, even when the gearbox starts at 2nd gear. I don't think I have once exceeded 35% throttle opening to overtake and go well above the speed limit.

The engine is still running in, so right now the fuel consumption is sitting pretty high between 14 to 20L/100 km.

I have come to accept the fact that the low speed ride comfort will never match the W211, the air suspension still get caught out by the short sharp bumps, once the speed increases the ride comfort is supremely refined.

The driving experience of the W213 does feel like it is worth double the price of the W205. I just wish the interior material and build quality of the W213 takes a bigger step up when compare to the W205.

Final word on the COMMAND and touch pad system. It is till not very intuitive to use compare to your modern smart phone and apps, there are simply too many layers per setting, and some layouts are not neat or tidy, to me at least, I have to take my eyes away from the road to use the COMMAND system.
