Ah, the S class coupé (sigh), a beauty to behold, André.I'll go and see it but its not for me. I like the more sleek window lines of the E coupe and of course S coupe.
The best thing about it though is the I6 engine and the AMG version of that must be great.
Prices are not yet known @dalab. My guess is, that it starts at € 55.000-60.000.What's the price? Do you know? I think it will be decisive to know if it is an expensive C or a cheap E, and relate it to the size and strategy proposed, which in the end is more than anything defined by the price
I really wanted it to be a desirable Mercedes for me, an icon like the CLK was or like the last S Class coupe was (in medium size), but it doesn't seem to be either one or the other, I'll wait and see IRL it deserves the benefit of doubt, that price seems not unreasonable
CLE wheelbase is 25 mm longer than the C coupé and 8 mm shorter than that of the E coupé. Therefore CLE is 50 mm wider than the C coupé. CLE front overhang is 98 mm longer than C and 38 mm longer than E. Rear overhang is 41 mm longer than C and 15 mm shorter than E.
I think you’ve got to see in real life to get a feel of the the proportions.
Do you really not understand that measurements don’t tell the story? You think the same length overhang affects every car the same way? I mean honestly.Ah ok. BMW can burn in hell for the 5er, but this CLE with the exact same elongated overhang has to be seen in person.
LOL. 10 CM extra overhang compared to its donor! Truly love this forum's double standards.
Mercedes is absolutely incapable of a proper medium sized coupe. They've been going downhill ever since the CLK. But at least this CLE looks better than the car it's replacing, which is worse in all ways.
This. Design isn't defined by singular sections of design. They have to be relative to the rest of the car.Do you really not understand that measurements don’t tell the story? You think the same length overhang affects every car the same way? I mean honestly.

Major disappointment and a missed opportunity as many have started here. It has rental car, econobox themes that look so cheap and underwhelming. This design theme keels towards the C-Class too much.
It would have looked better, and more convincing with new E-Class design elements IMO.
Maby something close to this render.

With all the coupes canceled from the MB lineup, the designers should have gone out of their way to create a design a bit more convincing and special.
I agree with what you’re saying, but that render looks like an aborted project.Major disappointment and a missed opportunity as many have started here. It has rental car, econobox themes that look so cheap and underwhelming. This design theme keels towards the C-Class too much.

Absolutely. Very disheartening to see Mercedes stumbling like a drunk at bar close.Agreed. This was definitely conceived as a c coupe and marketed as a CLE.

I wasn't comparing them to the 5er, but saying they have grown just like the 5er. And where all the MB fanboys like you non stop bitch about the 5er and don't mind the CLE's added mess, I call double standards.
And yeah added overhang on a car affect them all in the same way in a certain sense; they all look WORSE than their predecessor when there's more overhang than before.
Agreed, I would still take the E53 coupe or cabriolet over this.
It's going to be a no for me, or at least until I see it. Major disappointment. I saw an E53 Coupe today, I much prefer that.

BMW has already broken the records you mentioned. G70, G60, 3.0 CSL...If the coupe disappointed, the convertible does not exist, nor has it been talked about, Mercedes breaks its own records of "forgettability" with each new model it presents, it does not seem that two days ago a totally new CLE Convertible was also presented!
